(Minghui.org) Seven Falun Gong practitioners from Daqing City were illegally arrested on October 30, 2014. Five were released, one of whom was released on bail after going on a hunger strike.
Ms. Li Junying, 54; Ms. Ji Wenbo, 61; Ms. Zhang Chunyan; and Ms. Wang Wenying were visiting Ms. Cheng Jinzhi on the afternoon of October 30, 2014.
When Ms. Cheng opened her apartment door for people who had identified themselves as building management officials, more than 10 plainclothes officers pushed their way into the apartment and ransacked it.
They confiscated laptop computers, color laser copiers, Falun Gong books, and Falun Gong truth clarification materials. They arrested all five practitioners and took them to the Longgang Police Department.
Before leaving, the officers knocked on the door of the downstairs apartment. When two women opened it, the police rushed in, arrested them, and ransacked the apartment. They confiscated 16,000 yuan. Both women were released that night. That same night, one of the women was taken to the emergency room by her family for urgent care.
Ms. Cheng Jinzhi, 51, was released on bail on November 22 after she exhibited symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. She was arrested again on December 4.
Ms. Zhang Chunyan and Ms. Wang Wenyin were released on November 30.
Ms. Ji Wenbo went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. After she was force-fed, she developed symptoms of heart and kidney problems and renal failure. Her family put pressure on the authorities, which led to her release on bail on December 4, 2014.
The two detained practitioners, Ms. Cheng Jinzhi and Ms. Li Junying, were transferred to the Daqing No. 1 Detention Center. The Ranghulu District Procuratorate approved the arrests and will soon press charges.
