(Minghui.org) My grandson was diagnosed with the hereditary disease known as hemophilia when he was just two years old. His blood was unable to clot. There is no cure. He almost died from a head trauma once.
When he was very young, before the age of eight, my grandson would watch me doing the Falun Dafa exercises every day, and he too learned the movements. Sometimes he joined me in doing the exercises and Fa study. His illness stabilized. He did not bleed or have swollen joints for over ten months.
After the Chinese Communist regime began to crack down on Falun Gong, his parents wouldn't let him practice Falun Dafa anymore. They feared that if he was caught and beaten as a result of the persecution, he would not survive.
My grandson began to take shots for blood clotting. Nonetheless, he began to bleed frequently. A doctor made a mistake by puncturing the tissue inside his joints, causing severe swelling and fluid accumulation in his knee. He could not bend his knee, which prevented him from climbing steps. Someone had to carry him up and down steps at home and school.
It was difficult for me to see my grandson suffer. I knew that only Falun Dafa could help him. However, his parents were against it. Under his parents' influence, my grandson developed misunderstandings about Falun Dafa. He was also afraid of the persecution. His illness caused him to be irritable. He would get annoyed whenever I mentioned Falun Dafa.
I knew that it was important for me to save my grandson. I told him of the benefits of practicing Falun Dafa. I also talked to his mother, hoping that she would help him understand. When my grandson was in a good mood, I told him what Teacher said about sickness, and how only practicing Falun Dafa could truly help him.
I told him it was his destiny to be a part of my family, so he could practice Falun Gong with me. I reminded him of how when he was little, his ailment was stabilized by just practicing with me. Now that he was an adult, he should continue practicing. I played Teacher's lectures for him during his severe symptom outbreaks.
Torn by his conflicting thoughts and different influences from his parents and me, my grandson became very irritable. He would often yell at me over little things, and sometimes his mother would join him in scolding me.
My grandson got worse, both physically and mentally. I was worried and knew that I had no choice but to help him. I talked to him about his poor behavior when he was calm.
I also realized that I had to look within and find my own faults. It was then I discovered that I liked to show off, was often impatient and held a grudge when my family members didn't respect me. I increased sending forth righteous thoughts.
I told my grandson that he would recover if he practiced Falun Dafa. So he did the exercises and studied the Fa with me and several other practitioners during that summer. After a couple weeks he saw improvements.
Last year his parents suggested that he go to Beijing for knee surgery. He refused and continued with the group exercises and Fa studies. His improvement was significant. I took the opportunity to clarify the truth to his mother.
Seeing her son's health improve, her attitude towards me and Falun Dafa also improved. His father also no longer discouraged him from practicing Falun Dafa.
As my grandson was becoming a practitioner, more serious interference came along. In August 2013, when I asked him to study Essentials for Further Advancement with me, he threw a tantrum and cursed at me. He did not even want me to study the Fa and blamed me for his illness. He complained about me to his mother, and she said that I was selfish and didn't truly love him.
I did not become discouraged. I knew that this was evil interference. I calmed down and sent forth righteous thoughts. We had a long talk and resolved some misunderstandings three days later.
I also calmly pointed out to them that they should not treat me, their mother and grandmother, the way they did. I told them that it was time to wake up, deny the evil interference and practice Falun Dafa so that they could all be saved. I sent righteous thoughts with them. They knew without a doubt that I truly wanted the best for them.
Our conflicts were gone. My grandson and I were able to study the Fa and exercise every day. Now his knees are no longer swollen and he can walk normally.
From this experience, I realized that cultivation is a serious matter. Saving people is difficult but we must do it. We have to improve ourselves while we save others, including our family members.
