(Minghui.org) One man's shining example helps 10,000 employees of the Lengshuijiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd in Hunan Province to realize that “Falun Dafa is good.”
Mr. Li Shuping contracted meningitis when he was a child, and suffered from persistent headaches. His wife, Ms. Liu Xiaoling, had mental problems, and cried and yelled a lot. Her condition kept her from working, and her carrying on annoyed the neighbors. Mr. Li and Ms. Liu regained their health and lived a harmonious life after they began practicing Falun Gong.
Mr. Li was the Dean of Studies at the School for Children's Employees, and was considered an excellent math teacher by the students and their parents. His employer was forced to dismiss him because he persisted in his faith in Falun Gong,. To make ends meet, he worked different types of odd jobs, including cleaning, loading, and sampling raw materials.
Mr. Li worked hard and treated people fairly at his job at the Lengshuijiang Iron and Steel Co. He was promoted to director in charge of quality control of sampling raw materials. Although this was not a high-ranking position, it was a key role. He was responsible for sampling and overseeing the raw materials, which had a total value of up to 1.3 billion yuan.
It would have been easy for him to make bribe money on the side in this position, but he followed the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” to guide him in his work. When he started, he decided to follow a fair sampling standard. He monitored the raw materials himself both day and night. Within a few months, his station was doing very well. The director of the factory was happy, and rewarded his station with a 10,000 yuan bonus.
Mr. Li worked there for five years, and he was able to support his parents and his daughter. His wife had been sentenced to forced labor for practicing Falun Gong, and his daughter had gone away to college. Although he could have used the extra cash, he never accepted any gifts or money.
Mr. Li was such a good person that others would often joke. One rich fellow said to another, “If you can bribe Li Shuping, I will give you 100,000 yuan.” The other said, “If you can bribe Li Shuping, I will give you a million yuan.” Many of his fellow employees said that he could not be bribed with money or beauty just to be in someone else's favor.
As director of the station, he saved the company at least 100 million yuan every year. Someone commented, “If he had wanted to become rich, he could have become a millionaire within a year in that position.”
Mr. Li went to work during the day, and worked as a coach on the side to earn extra money to support his daughter in college. All the while he lived in a 495 square foot apartment. Being unselfish he treated other employees the same as his family members. He showed up whenever help was needed.
Someone said, “If everyone practiced Falun Gong, there would be no more greed. There wouldn't be any bad people, and people would be blessed.” Others said, “Dafa practitioners are truly unselfish” and “Falun Dafa is good.”
While Mr. Li was working at the factory, people would say, “Falun Dafa is good” wherever he went. Being a man of fairness, he was not swayed by wrongdoers.
The factory went through a reform in late 2008, and workers were given severance packages. He resigned under pressure. He continues to work as a student coach. Someone once asked him whether he regretted not taking extra money at his job. He said, “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I would never regret doing what is right.”
Mr. Li and his wife have been illegally arrested at least 15 times since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, and their home has been ransacked over 20 times.
His wife has been sentenced to forced labor camps four times. She was beaten and on the verge of death the second time, at the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Li has been arrested three times and held at different detention centers, including the Laodaohe Brainwashing Center.
They are still being harassed at home, and someone frequently knocks at their door at around midnight.
The employees of the factory often say, “Is there any justice if such a good person is treated that way?”
