(Minghui.org) Ms. Hu Keying’s house has been ransacked three times in the past 15 years. She has spent two years in detention, and the police have extorted a total of 17,500 yuan from her family over the years. Why is this law-abiding senior citizen treated like a criminal? Only because she practices Falun Gong and strives to live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

On October 10, 2013, 78-year-old Ms. Hu narrowly escaped arrest by climbing onto the roof of her home when police came to search the premises. She had to stay away from her home for a long time to avoid arrest, leaving her husband, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, at home alone.
The police ransacked Ms. Hu's house and confiscated her computer, printer, printing supplies and other items. Head of the Huichuan District Political and Legal Affairs Committee of Zhoukou City Zhao Donghe led the raid.
Fifteen years of persecution and constant harassment from the authorities have taken a heavy toll on Ms. Hu's family. Her husband health has deteriorated and he is now in serious condition.
Ms. Hu was arrested at another practitioner’s house on July 14, 2011. A dozen officers later broke into her home and confiscated a number of items. Her husband was there at the time and was in shock. He had to be rushed to the hospital following the police raid.
When a police doctor gave Ms. Hu a physical exam, she was diagnosed as being “seriously ill,” and it was suggested that she be hospitalized immediately. Despite her condition, the police asked the authorities at three detention centers to take her, but they all refused. In the end, they had no choice but to release her.
One day in January 2002, police raided the homes of practitioners Wu Guifang, Hu Keying, Song Xia, Zhang Min, Jia Xiu and another practitioner. Officer Wang Yong from the Jianshe Road Police Station led the raids. Ms. Hu was later taken to a detention center.
Ms. Hu’s son was the mayor of Beijiao Town at the time, and was being considered for a promotion to Party Secretary of Nanjiao Town. However, his promotion was put on hold because of his mother's refusal to betray her belief.
Officer Wu Gang told Ms. Hu that her son could be promoted as long as she promised not to practice Falun Gong. Ms. Hu said, “Getting a promotion by forcing one's mother to betray her faith is unthinkable. In today’s society, people compete for petty interests. My son is better off not getting the promotion.”
Officials from the Chuanhui District 610 Office wanted to sentence Ms. Hu to a labor camp, but when detention center head Dou Yanhuai took Ms. Hu and other practitioners to the Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City for a physical examination, the results showed that she had severe heart disease. Therefore, the officials there refused to take her.
Dou Yanhuai tried to bribe a labor camp official by saying, “I will give you an apartment if you take her.” But the official replied, “We don't dare to take her in that condition, no matter what you promise to give me.”
Dou Yanhuai then took Ms. Hu to another hospital and told the doctor there to report that Ms. Hu only has some minor ailments. The doctor replied, “Her results show that she has severe heart disease and could die at any time.” Dou Yanhuai had no choice but to take Ms. Hu back to the detention center.
Ms. Hu was released after one year in detention, on January 29, 2003. But her family was forced to pay 2,000 yuan before she could go home.
Under pressure from the 610 Office, management at the Zhoukou Distillery, Ms. Hu former employer, decided to suspend her and several other practitioners' pensions for 40 months. They also forced Ms. Hu to pay 5,000 yuan in “fines.”
Ms. Hu’s went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on October 1, 2000. She shouted: “Falun Dafa is good; Falun Dafa is righteous; return honor to Master Li.” Inspired by her courage, other practitioners there began to join in. Police rushed over and started striking the practitioners with batons. Ms. Hu was struck on the head and briefly lost consciousness. Another practitioner helped Ms. Hu back to her feet.
The police failed to disperse the practitioners, as they gathered in groups and joined hands, protecting each other from the police.
Ms. Hu was arrested and taken to a local detention center for five days. She refused to give the police her name or address, but they found her ID card. She was taken back to her hometown and held in the Zhoukou Detention Center. Director Song Haiqiang put heavy shackles on her feet, and officer Chen Zhensheng handcuffed her.

People from the Zhoukou Distillery went to the detention center and took Ms. Hu back to a local detention facility. She spent one year there, and her family was forced to pay 2,000 yuan.
On February 19, 2000, Ms. Hu was arrested by officers Li Yuzheng and Liu Feng. Li Yuzheng told Ms. Hu's children, “You mother will be sent to an out-of-town detention center. If you pay me 2,000 yuan, I'll make sure she stays in a local detention center.” Her family members agreed to pay half of the money. However, officers from the local Domestic Security Division forced the family to pay another 5,000 yuan the next day.
One of Ms. Hu’s relatives was a county level official at the time. He spoke to the head of the Domestic Security Division, and said, “The old lady was just released a month ago, why did you arrested her again?” He told the police to release her and return the money to her family. Under pressure from their superiors, the police released Ms. Hu, but only returned 2,500 yuan to her family.
After the persecution began, Ms. Hu went to Beijing to appeal in October 1999. She was arrested and taken back to Zhoukou, where she was detained for 20 days. Officers Kou Hongqi and Wang Guosheng extorted 5,000 yuan from her family before they would release her.
Ms. Hu began practicing Falun Gong in the spring of 1996. In less than two months, her illnesses disappeared. She used to be hospitalized two or three times a year for her coronary heart disease and other ailments. However, the symptoms of her illnesses returned after she was arrested and detained.
