(Minghui.org) We had a mayoral race in our village back in June 2010, and the competition was fierce. A few days before the election, one of the candidates invited many people, including myself, to attend a gathering. I didn't want to go since I don't consume alcohol and did not want to participate in events like this. I changed my mind later and thought this would be a great opportunity to talk about Falun Dafa with others.
When I arrived at the gathering, there were already many people in the room, as if they had been waiting for me. I talked to them about Falun Dafa and the importance of quitting the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. Some of them agreed with me, while others were unclear about the “Quit the Party” movement. A few people began to scream at me. At that time, the host walked over and said, “Why are you screaming at him? Falun Dafa practitioners are good people. I have read many informational materials made by Falun Dafa practitioners, and everything they say about the Party is true.”
I thought then, “This man will probably be elected as the mayor of our village. He has already quit the Party and is kind to practitioners. Consequently, he will obtain many blessings.”
It was raining the next day. At around noon, campaign volunteers, one after another, visited me and gave me money. I collected more than 1,000 yuan in less than two hours. Had I not taken their money, they would have thought that I didn't want to vote for their candidates and would argue with me.
Many villagers gathered together that afternoon to find out the election results. The man who understood about Falun Dafa and was kind to practitioners won the election and became the new mayor of our village.
After the election, I returned the money to the campaign volunteers. I told them, “Our Teacher wants us to conduct ourselves according to the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' and be good people. Practitioners should do good deeds, be selfless, think of others first, and not be greedy.” After hearing what I said, some of them quit the Party and its affiliates and said that Falun Dafa is truly good.
Two years ago, policemen showed up at our village committee office and said they came to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners. The mayor said, “Why are you arresting them? They are good people and do good deeds. They repaired the main road in our village. Get out of here! You are not welcome here!”
