Close to 1,700 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested from March to May, 2014

(Minghui.org) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues to arrest Falun Gong practitioners in 2014. Several coordinated raids took place from March to May, 2014.

Such events were documented in all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China except Tibet. The number of Falun Gong practitioners arrested has climbed sharply since March. According to information received as of June 3, 1,694 practitioners were arrested from March to May in 2014, a 30% increase over the same period in 2013.

The following chart shows that 549 practitioners were arrested in March, 676 in April and 469 in May.

As illustrated in the chart above, 216 practitioners were arrested in Shandong Province, 164 in Liaoning, 150 in Jilin, 135 in Hebei, 108 in Heilongjiang, 92 in Hunan, 84 in Beijing, 75 in Jiangsu and Sichuan, 70 in Henan and 66 in Shanghai.

The following is a listing of practitioners arrested by province:

Arrests took place in 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. Shandong, Liaoning, Jilin, Hebei, Heilongjiang and Hubei Provinces account for the majority, followed by Hunan, Beijing, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Henan and Shanghai.

At least 27 raids involved at least six practitioners, impacting a total of 280 practitioners.

Five coordinated raids in Liaoning Province involved more than 70 practitioners:On March 20 and 21, nine practitioners were arrested in Fumeng County, Fuxin City.On April 12, six practitioners were arrested in Xinbin County, Fushun City.On April 22, fourteen practitioners were arrested in Dalian City.On April 24, thirty-nine practitioners were arrested in Shenyang.On May 17, six more practitioners were arrested in Shenyang.

Three raids in Shandong Province involved 30 practitioners:On April 4, ten practitioners were arrested in Gaomi, Weifang.On April 8, ten practitioners were arrested in Guan County, Liaocheng.On May 15, ten practitioners were arrested in Feiwang.

Three raids in Hunan Province involved more than 30 practitioners:From March 25 to 29, fourteen practitioners were arrested in Changsha.On April 8 and 9, ten practitioners were arrested in Hecheng District of Huaihua City.On May 9, ten practitioners were arrested in Jibingtan Township, Hengyang County.

Three raids in Jilin Province involved more than 30 practitioners:On March 24, more than twenty practitioners were arrested in Huadian CityOn April 22, seven practitioners were arrested in Jilin City.On April 26, six practitioners were arrested in Gongzhuling City, Siping.

Two raids in Hebei Province involved 17 practitioners:On March 13, eleven practitioners were arrested in Tangshan City.On March 17, six practitioners were arrested in Huailai County, Zhangjiakou.

Two raids in Heilongjiang Province involved 13 practitioners:On March 21, seven practitioners were arrested in Jiamusi CityOn May 8, six practitioners were arrested in Shuangcheng City, Harbin.

Two raids in Beijing involved 12 practitioners:On March 4, six practitioners were arrested in Fengtai District of BeijingOn March 10 and 12, six practitioners were arrested in Miyun County of Beijing

One raid each in Jiangsu, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Yunnan, Inner Mongolia, Henan and Hubei Provinces and Shanghai involved 86 practitioners:On March 5, twelve practitioners were arrested in NanjingOn March 26, nine practitioners were arrested in Pudong New District of Shanghai.On April 18, seven practitioners were arrested in Shifang City.On April 18, seven practitioners were arrested in Yuyao City.On April 19 and 20, fourteen practitioners were arrested in Kunming and Shilin.On April 19 and 20, fifteen practitioners were arrested in Xilingole League of Inner Mongolia.On April 20, sixteen practitioners were arrested in Dancheng City, Zhoukou.On May 15, six practitioners were arrested in Xihu District of Wuhan.

Among the 1,694 practitioners, some were forced to pay large amounts of money to the authorities, some were sent to brainwashing sessions, and some were arrested and sentenced to prison terms.

Despite the CCP regime's lip service to the international community about respecting human rights and freedom of belief, the facts tell a completely different story.
