(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Aiying appealed the three-year sentence imposed on her by the Wuan Court. Her appeal was heard in the third courtroom in the Handan Intermediate Court at 10 a.m. on May 16, 2014. Her attorney defended her not-guilty plea and asked for her release. Ms Wang also defended herself. The prosecutor from the Handan Procuratorate asked the court to uphold the original sentence.
Judge Yan Yan did not hand down a ruling at the hour-long trial. The dozen or so observers were all sent by the 610 Office in Handan to give the appearance of a public trial. Family members and others were not allowed to observe the proceedings. Ms. Wang was not in prison clothes.
The 610 Offices in Handan and Wuan stationed about 30 security personnel and plainclothes police at the south and west gates. Zhang Lihua, the team leader in the domestic security division in Wuan, and personnel from the 610 Office in Anle Township in Wuan assigned 10 people to the front gate of the courthouse to prevent anyone from observing the trial. At about 9 a.m. there were about 200 people waiting at the front gate.
Ms. Wang should have been released on June 1 as her original sentence was June 1, 2011 to June 1, 2014. She is still being held in the No. 1 Detention Center in Handan.
Ms. Wang and her husband, Mr. Wang Hongliang, were illegally arrested and taken to the Wuan Detention Center by Zhang Lihua, the team leader of the domestic security division in the Wuan Police Department in Hebei Province; He Xubing, political instructor; and Zhang Aibin from Chengguan Police Station at around 6 a.m. on June 1, 2011. Many personal belongings and 14,900 yuan were confiscated. Zhao Bo and Yu Weiping from the Wuan Procuratorate had fabricated documents to charge them.
Judge Chen Jianguo of the First Criminal Court of Wuan secretly sentenced the couple without notifying their attorney or family in February 2012. Their family members only learned on March 2, 2012, that Ms. Wang Aiying was sentenced to four years, and Mr. Wang Hongliang to three years.
The couple knew they were innocent and appealed to the Handan Intermediate Court. However, their case was returned to the Second Criminal Court of Wuan by Handan Intermediate Court in September 2012 with the excuse that the details of the appeal were too vague.
The Wuan Court approved the prosecution cancellation application of Wuan Procuratorate in January 2013. Mr. Wang was bailed out on February 2, 2013, but the Wuan Procuratorate refused to release him. The Chengguan Police Station and Wuan Procuratorate made up more documents and charged Ms. Wang again in Wuan Court.
The Wuan Court put Ms. Wang on trial again on March 1, 2013. She was sentenced to three years on March 18, 2013. She appealed again to the Handan Intermediate Court. Her case was again returned to the Wuan Court in September 2013.
Ms. Wang was put on trial by the Wuan Court for a third time at 4 p.m. on December 6, 2013. Court officials went to Handan No.1 Detention Center to issue the sentence on January 10, 2014. Ms. Wang was sentenced to three years of detention, and she again appealed.
