(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Shuqin, a Falun Gong practitioner in her sixties, was ambushed by police while approaching her home in Tianjin on April 16, 2014. The officers pushed her over and held her on the ground, where she lost consciousness. During her illegal detention that has lasted two months thus far, her family's visitation requests have been denied.
The officers from Binhaixin District Tanggu Police Station who ambushed Ms. Wang stated that they had been watching and waiting for her for a number of days, and that the order for the arrest came from the Tianjin City 610 Office, the local branch of a national agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with the power to override political and judiciary organs in China.
After arresting Ms. Wang, police also raided her home and seized two computers, two printers, her personal phone directory, and a large number of other personal belongings. They also demanded money from her family members. Officers then interrogated Ms. Wang at the Yichengshangbei Police Station before detaining her at the Zhaojiadi Detention Center. During her detention, Ms. Wang was examined at a hospital twice and was found to have developed hypertension, leading to concerns from her family about her health while in detention.
In the past, Ms. Wang was bedridden and had severe heart problems. After she started practicing Falun Gong, she reported experiencing enormous physical and mental changes that allowed her to take care of her parents in their old age, until they passed away.
Ms. Wang Shuqin is still being held in Binhaixin District Zhaojiade Detention Center.
