(Minghui.org) Mr. Chen Liwu, an outstanding engineer from the Tangshan Iron and Steel Group Company, was arrested in March 2014. The Bangcai Police Station in Tangshan fabricated charges against him, but the Lubei Procuratorate rejected his case. Mr. Chen is being held at the Tangshan Second Detention Center.
The Tangshan Political and Legal Affairs Committee, along with special agents from the 610 Office, ordered the branch office of the Tangshan Iron and Steel Company and the Bangcai Police Station to arrest Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen and search his home on March 13, 2014. His clothes were ripped, and his computer, printer, cell phone, bankbook, and other personal items confiscated in the process.
Officers from the Beiqu Police Station arrested Mr. Chen's wife, Ms. Wang Yaxin, at work the same day. She was held at Tangshan First Detention Center for approximately a month.
Mr. Chen's wife and daughter were continually harassed during the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) attempt to collect evidence to frame him.
Members of the CCP went to his daughter's school three times following the national 2014 May Day holiday. The school refused their requests the first two times because she was preparing for her college entrance exams. The third time the CCP officers insisted that she accompany them to their office. They questioned her for half a day, causing her to suffer psychologically, which interfered with her studies.
Tangshan Iron and Steel guards visited, threatened, deceived, and collected information from his wife's bosses in early May. His family refused to open their door when they came the next day, so they set up surveillance next to their building that night.
Mr. Chen, in his 40s, is an electrical engineer at the Power Plant of Tangshan Iron and Steel Group Company. He started following the Falun Dafa principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in 1998. His bosses and colleagues recognized his skill, hard work, kindness, and ability to work well with others, and expected him to have a successful career.
Mr. Chen was repeatedly persecuted after the practice was banned on July 20, 1999. He was harassed and unfairly demoted because he practiced Falun Dafa. According to his fellow workers, his bosses recognized his abilities and the quality of character, but didn't dare to promote him due to pressure from higher authorities. He has supervised many engineering projects in recent years and has had great success, but has not received any acknowledgement for his achievements.
