(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Chirong, in her 50's, was illegally arrested by police on April 10, 2014. With her righteous thoughts and firm belief in Dafa, Ms. Liu was released. The officer who arrested her was fined 1,000 yuan.
Ms. Liu Chirong, a retiree of Mengyin County Power Supply Bureau, went to a village in Zoucheng, Ji'ning City, Shandong Province on the afternoon of April 10, 2014, to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong. She didn't realize that she was being followed.
When she was about to leave, a person on a motorcycle yelled at her to wait. She waited for him, and then asked him: “What can I do for you?” The person answered rudely, “I have been looking for you for two days. Now I have found you. Don't even think about getting away.”
It appeared that this person had been brainwashed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He was out to find other Falun Gong practitioners who were distributing truth-clarification materials a couple days earlier, when he came across Ms. Liu.
Ms. Liu smiled at him, “What we distribute are the facts about Falun Gong. It can save people. Falun Gong is a righteous Fa that teaches people to do good things and accumulate virtue. Doing bad things to practitioners is not good for you.” However, this person claimed that he was not afraid of karmic retribution.
He called two more people to assist him. From their conversation, the first person seemed to be an official of the village. He called the Zhongxin Police Station in Zoucheng to report Ms. Liu. The other two grabbed her by the arms. Calmly she continued to tell them the facts about Falun Gong, but they refused to listen.
Many police from Zhongxin Police Station and Zoucheng Domestic Security Branch came to the scene. They arrested Ms. Liu and took her to the Zhongxin Police Station.
They handcuffed Ms. Liu to a chair for interrogation. They were very rough with her when they tried to take a photo, pushing her head and grabbing her hair and neck. However, Ms. Liu refused to cooperate. The police struggled all afternoon and into the night but never obtained a good photo. They eventually gave up.
The next day, Ms. Liu had many painful bruises on her neck and wrist from the rough treatment the day before.
At the police station, Ms. Liu informed the police about the law: “Our Constitution defines that having a religion is not a crime. You are violating the law by detaining me here.” The police said that Falun Gong was an evil cult and it was defined as such in the Constitution. Ms. Liu asked for evidence of this. A policeman went to search for it, but of course he couldn't find it. He came back, “Even without your confession or signature, and without legal justification, we can still put you in a detention center.” He then said that Ms. Liu would be detained for ten days.
He called in two young policemen. Together the three of them forced Ms. Liu into a police car to take her to the Zoucheng Detention Center.
The Zoucheng Detention Center took Ms. Liu Chirong on the morning of April 11, without any medical examination. There were many prostitutes detained there. Ms. Liu explained to them how to live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She also explained the facts about Falun Gong to the guards.
When Ms. Liu shouted “Falun Gong Is Good,” other inmates would follow with “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Is Good!” The righteous voices echoed throughout the whole detention center. It was clear that some of the guards were also beginning to believe in them.
Guards called Ms. Liu to the office, on April 17. Because the police had failed to get a blood sample and fingerprints when arresting Ms. Liu, the Zoucheng Domestic Security Division asked the guards to do it immediately. Ms. Liu told them, “Arresting me is already illegal. Now you want to make this illegal act more formal, what a shame!”
The officer who arrested Ms. Liu called the police department to report that they couldn't get the blood sample and fingerprints. The Police Department answered him, “Detaining people without taking fingerprints violates the procedure. We'll deduct ten points from your record. You must also pay a 1,000 yuan fine.”
The policeman turned to Ms. Liu, “Because you didn't do fingerprinting, we were fined 1,000 yuan. Can you pay that for us?” Ms. Liu retorted, “Arresting me is already illegal. Now you want me to pay this fine for you?"
Ms. Liu was released on April 19, 2014.
In the past, policemen would receive awards and bonuses for arresting Falun Gong practitioners. However, this time the officer who arrested Ms. Liu was fined and deducted ten points off his record.
