Falun Gong Practitioner in Guangdong Illegally Sentenced a Second Time

February 17, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Huang Chuanyang was arrested in the early morning hours of July 8, 2013, by a joint police effort from Zhaoan County, Fujian Province, and Raoping County, Guangdong Province. He was tortured and subjected to sleep deprivation.

The Zhaoan County Court sentenced him to four years in prison at the end of September 2013. While he is being held in the Zhaoan Detention Center, Mr. Huang has appealed to the Zhangzhou City Intermediate Court. This is the second prison sentence he has been given for refusing to renounce his belief.

Homeless and Destitute to Avoid Being Arrested in 2012

In June 2012, local authorities reported Mr. Huang when he posted Falun Gong banners in and around Zhaoan County. Police from Zhaoan and Raoping Counties raided his home.

They attempted to arrest him, but he managed to evade capture. He had to move around while he was tracked by the police.

Persecuted and Illegally Sentenced in 2006

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has repeatedly persecuted Mr. Huang since the persecution began. In 2006, he was reported in Changtai County, Fujian Province, as he handed out CD's of New Tang Dynasty TV's New Year Spectacular. Police from the Changtai Police Department arrested him and took him to a detention center, where he was deprived of sleep for days and tortured. He was later sentenced to four years in prison by the Changtai County Court.

In Minxi Prison, Mr. Huang refused to renounce his belief. He was beaten by prisoners under the guards' direction and handcuffed alone in a prison cell for 13 months. Because he remained steadfast, he was transferred to the prison's Strict Management Team. There he was beaten and suffered a swollen temple, bleeding left ear, and perforated eardrum. He was imprisoned alone in a dark room. His arms were tied to the bars of the window and his feet barely touched the floor. From 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for more than a month, he was kept in this position.

When Mr. Huang was forced to stand under the baking sun all day long, he developed a high fever, swollen legs, and heart disease. He passed blood and was unable to stand. When he was released in October 2009, he was in critical condition.

When he returned home, Mr. Huang continued to practice Falun Gong and soon recovered. However, he lost his job with the local government. Because the Chengbei Police Station in Huanggang Town, Raoping County refused to return his identification card, he couldn't find a suitable job and was forced to leave his home to find work elsewhere.

Benefited from Practicing Falun Gong

Mr. Huang, 39, from Raoping County, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, was an employee of the Xinxu Town Government. He began to practice Falun Gong in 1996. Because he greatly benefited from Falun Gong both physically and mentally, Mr. Huang promoted Falun Gong in his hometown.
