Retired Fushun Police Officer Ms. Wang Sufang from Liaoning Province Detained for Her Belief

February 14, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Sufang in Fushun, Liaoning Province, was illegally arrested over two months ago. Even though the Xinfu District Procuratorate recently turned down her case for lack of evidence, the Domestic Security Division responsible for her arrest still refuses to release her.

Ms. Wang, 64, used to be a section-level official in the Fushun Police Department. After she started practicing Falun Gong, all her illnesses disappeared and her health got better and better. She told people about her personal experience and how practicing Falun Gong had benefited her. Because of this she has been arrested and detained by the CCP numerous times.

On the afternoon of December 5, 2013, Ms. Wang was arrested again for distributing truth-clarification materials at an overpass in the Xinfu District. She is now at the Nangou Detention Center in Fushun.

Ms. Wang's family hired attorneys to defend her. On December 27, 2013, Attorney Mr. Zhang was detained by Fumin Police Station officers for nearly three hours and was beaten by officer Guo Jinshi and others.

On the morning of January 16, 2014, Attorney Mr. Shi managed to see Ms. Wang in the detention center.

That afternoon, one attorney went to the Xinfu District Procuratorate and was told by the head of preliminary hearing section that Ms. Wang's file had already been returned to the Domestic Security Division of the Xinfu Police Station.

The attorney then went to the police station, but the Domestic Security Division officers refused to speak to him. He met with He Wei, head of the legal section, and requested Ms. Wang be released and the charges dropped.

He Wei was rude and unreasonable and gave three ridiculous reasons for Ms. Wang's detention: 1) She was sentenced before for practicing Falun Gong, 2) She has been released on bail before, and 3) She was talking to people about Falun Gong in a busy area. Their “evidence” was that she had two CDs and two New Year calendars in her hand. They also claimed that, since Ms. Wang used to work as a police officer, she was doubly guilty.

On January 23, a fellow practitioner accompanied Ms. Wang's younger sister to Xinfu Domestic Security Division to ask for Ms. Wang's release. He Wei still refused to release her. One officer even attempted to arrest the practitioner. The practitioner showed no fear, firmly resisted, and was not arrested.
