(Minghui.org) Editor's note: The concept of karmic retribution is deeply rooted in traditional Chinese culture. “On the doer of good, heaven sends down all blessings, and on the doer of evil, he sends down all calamities” -- This teaching has been passed on for over two thousand years. Despite efforts by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to destroy such traditional thinking, many in China still acknowledge it, and recent events are bringing it to the forefront of their minds.
In order to alert perpetrators and help them change their lives for the better, Falun Gong practitioners collect such cases and remind the evildoers of the karmic connection between their actions and their consequences.
The year 2013 saw 705 reports of cases that could be attributed to karmic retribution befalling those who participated in the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Untimely deaths, terminal or serious illnesses, injuries, career setbacks, and similar events involving family members are all among the ill fates with which these people have met.
Among these cases, 689 involve perpetrators, and 183 involve implicated family members of perpetrators.
The number of cases is organized by households: 167 of the 705 cases involve both perpetrators and their family members. Together, 522 individual perpetrator cases, 167 cases involving both perpetrators and family members, and 16 cases of implicated family members total to 705.
Most of the deaths were the result of cancer, car accidents, or sudden deaths for unknown reasons.
A sample of persecutors who met with karmic retribution in 2013
The following chart shows the types of karmic retribution met by 689 persecutors. Among the 334 (48.5%) who died, 99 died from cancer; 52 from car accidents; 52 died suddenly without obvious reason; 38 from heart or brain diseases; 26 from drowning, alcohol or gas poisoning, or falling from buildings; 23 from suicide or homicide; 44 from other reasons.
Among the 93 (13.5%) persecutors who became seriously ill, 33 have cancer; 15 have heart or brain diseases; 7 have digestive system diseases; 9 had a stroke, disability, mental collapse, or fell into a vegetative state; 29 developed other conditions.
Karmic retribution may affect immediate family members as well. Among 183 cases involving family members, 98 cases included deaths, 31 included injuries, and 54 included cancer, arrests, divorces, or financial losses.
The following chart shows the types of retributions met by persecutors who died.
Three hundred and six retribution cases (43.4% of the 705 cases) happened to officials in Political and Legislative Affairs Committees (PLAC) at different levels, “610 Offices”, public security, domestic security, prosecutors' offices, courts, detention centers, labor camps, and prisons.
One hundred and nineteen (16.9%) were officials or employees of government offices. One hundred and sixty-seven (16.9%) were officials in local administrations, enterprises, communities, schools, or factories. One hundred and thirteen (16%) were citizens used by the CCP to carry out its persecution of Falun Gong.
The following chart shows the age distribution of the 247 people whose ages were reported. About 68.4% of them were between 40 and 60 years old.
The following map shows the locations of the reported retribution cases.
This geographic distribution corroborates confirmed death tolls in the persecution:
As Falun Gong practitioners continue to tell people about the benefits of the practice and expose the persecution in China, the public is forming a clearer picture of why the persecution is fundamentally wrong.
More and more Chinese view the persecution of Falun Gong and happenings around them in a traditional context of karmic retribution, a view of moral cause and effect. This includes some perpetrators themselves.
E Anfu (鄂安福), a judge in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, died at the age of 45 on February 18, 2011, two months after suffering a stroke and a cerebral hemorrhage. In 2001, E Anfu directed secret illegal trials of five local Falun Gong practitioners, all resulting in lengthy sentences.
On his deathbed, the judge asked his family members, “Quick, go find me a Falun Gong practitioner!” When he got the opportunity to talk to a practitioner, he expressed regret for his wrongful actions and acknowledged that his dire condition was the result of karmic retribution and that he was facing the consequences of his earlier decisions.
We hope that the statistics in this report serve as a wake-up call for those who are still persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
