Jan. 14, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Inner Mongolia, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Huiyun and Ms. Wang Guihua from Ningcheng County, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, were illegally arrested on July 25, 2013, for speaking to people about Falun Gong at a local market in Tianyi Township.

Ms. Liu was sentenced to two years in prison and Ms. Wang was sentenced to a year and a half on December 29, 2013.

Arrested, Homes Ransacked

A street vendor called the police and reported Ms. Liu and Ms. Wang on July 25, 2013. Deputy director Xing Zuoli and three officers from the Ningcheng County Domestic Security Division arrested and took the women to the county detention center.

The police then ransacked their homes and confiscated Falun Gong books, cell phones, software, banners, and radios.

All of their equipment for receiving New Tang Dynasty Television, a nonprofit TV station headquartered in New York that broadcasts uncensored news into China, was confiscated three days later.

Criminal Charges Lodged against Them

The nature of their detention was then changed from “administrative” to “criminal,” so that both practitioners remain incarcerated.

The county police department submitted Ms. Liu's and Ms. Wang's cases to the city level, but they were not accepted. Nevertheless, both practitioners remained in police custody.

The county court heard the case on October 15, 2013, but the details were not released, and their families were not notified. It has been learned through other channels that they were sentenced on December 19, 2013. Ms. Liu Huiyun was sentenced to two years in prison, and Ms. Wang Guihua to 18 months in prison.

Ms. Liu and Ms. Wang have been detained since July and their families have not been allowed to visit them. No one knows if they have been tortured or mistreated in the detention center.
