Cuiping Police Arrest Practitioners and Extort Money from Their Families

(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Xiangrong and Ms. Qiao Ruirong from Qixia City, Shandong Province, were reported to the Qixia 610 Office for speaking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of August 16, 2013. Three officers from the Cuiping Police Station in Qixia City illegally arrested both practitioners.

The police confiscated Falun Gong books, informational materials and currency bills with facts about Falun Gong written on them from the practitioners' bags. They then called the practitioners' families and told them to come to the police station.

The police extorted 1,000 yuan from Ms. Liu's family and 3,000 yuan from Ms. Qiao's family. In addition, 10,000 yuan was extorted from Ms. Qiao's family in the form of a deposit.

Subsequently, both practitioners were released. Ms. Liu was released around noon, and Ms. Qiao around 3 p.m. that day.

Background

Ms. Liu, 76, lives by herself. Prior to practicing Falun Gong, she had severe asthma, heart disease and other health problems. After she began the practice, all of her diseases were cured without treatment. She has conveyed this experience as an example of the benefits of Falun Gong when speaking to people.

Ms. Qiao is a teacher. She has used her summer break to tell people about the beauty of Falun Gong. She and her family have endured years of suffering under the persecution of the communist regime.
