Suzhou City Court Responds to an Appeal by Arresting the Plaintiff

Ms. Lu Yan, the daughter of Falun Gong practitioner Lu Tong, was arrested on her way to work at 7 a.m. on July 24, 2013. According to a Minghui report published on July 26, 2013, she was arrested by officer from the Suzhou City 610 Office and Jinchang District Police Station. She had not been released after being in police custody for 24 hours, and it is believed she has been transferred to the Shangfangshan Brainwashing Center in Suzhou.

Why was Ms. Lu arrested? Her father, Mr. Lu Tong, a practitioner from Caixiangxin Village in Suzhou City, was illegally sentenced to four years in prison on December 17, 2008, by the Jinchang District Court. To get her father released from prison, Ms. Lu had been appealing through legal channels with the help of a lawyer. She made an appeal to the Suzhou City Intermediate People's Court and requested a new hearing for her father. The court officials evaded responsibility again and again when questioned by Mr. Lu's family. They treated them rudely and arrested Ms. Lu. Gu Yingqing, president of the Suzhou City Intermediate People's Court, even said to the family, “Why do you speak of the law? I'm talking about politics here.”

It is speculated that Ms. Lu's arrest was the regime's attempt to prevent her from appealing. What type of justice system not only disregards the law but also responds to an appeal by arresting the complainant? What type of justice system not only condones injustice, but also tries to prevent the victim from appealing? Is this system of justice able to protect the people or ensure a just society?

The Minghui website recently published the article “Courts Throughout China Disregard the Law.” Suzhou City Intermediate People's Court is certainly not the only court in China that disregards the law. All the courts in China are strictly controlled by the Communist regime. How many more injustices have these courts overseen in the past more than 60 years, and how many Chinese people have been victimized? The persecution of Falun Gong is hardly all of it.

Everything the Chinese Communist Party-controlled judicial system does is scandalous. Claiming that China is governed by the “rule of law” is a slap in the face to the Chinese people.

I hope the Chinese people realize that they cannot count on the Chinese regime's legal system to carry out justice and protect them, and I hope the officials of the Public Security System in Suzhou and the entire judicial system can see the true nature of the Party.
