Practitioners in Germany Call Attention to China's Organ Harvesting Crimes During the Wagner Opera Festival

August 08, 2013 |

(Minghui.org) July 25, 2013, marked the 99th annual Wagner Opera Festival in Bayreuth, Germany. The great 19th century German composer, Richard Wagner, designed the ornate opera house himself and was the brainchild of the wildly popular festival, which dates back to 1876. The event takes place each year to celebrate the famous composer's musical works.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, along with national-level ministers, local Bayreuth dignitaries, and stars from the arts, film, and music industry, attended the opening ceremony. More than 50 local media outlets were on hand to report on the world famous cultural event.

Four hours before the actual festival began, Wagner fans from around the world took a leisurely stroll through Green Hill Park in Bayreuth.

Most of these fans were given informational materials about Falun Gong and a special report written by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong . The report explains how two Chinese military doctors harvested organs from a living, female Falun Gong practitioner, without the use of anesthetics. The atrocity was witnessed by a police officer in Liaoning Province, China.

People were shocked when practitioners told them about these and other human rights violations that are routinely taking place in China.

There is a longstanding rule in Green Hill Park: no fliers of any kind are allowed to be handed out to anyone. However, after the park police saw the subject matter of the practitioners' fliers, not only did they make an exception to the rule, they even told the practitioners the best place to stand to hand out their materials.

A number of television reporters expressed support for Falun Gong and promised to tell their relatives and friends about the persecution.

One reporter said that he would tell several of his friends who worked in the medical profession to stay clear of any organs from China, not collaborate with organ transplant specialists from mainland China, recommend that their patients not go to China for an organ transplant operation, and definitely play no part in training mainland Chinese doctors how to perform organ transplants.

One television reporter asked for a stack of fliers so that he could share them with his colleagues.

Some passersby said that the Chinese regime's evil and inhuman nature was very disturbing and impossible to comprehend. Many people applauded the practitioners' efforts to expose the CCP’s crimes to the world. “You are doing the right thing on this very special occasion,” said one woman. “I have read your human rights report,” shouted one man from a distance, “and I will definitely give it to German Chancellor Merkel who is here tonight; I know her very well!”

A man stepped away from the midnight dinner party, picked up one of the practitioners' fliers, and praised them. "I really admire your perseverance,” he said. “It's now 1 a.m., and you're still here handing out fliers. What a marvelous job you're doing!"

Two police officers, whose job each year is to protect the dignitaries attending the event, had become quite familiar with the practitioners' message.

“It is the right time in history for you to expose the CCP’s crimes,” said one of the officers, after having read the investigative report on forced organ harvesting. “You've been here for years now telling people what's going on in China. You're doing a superb job. Our society needs more people like you!”

The other officer chimed in, “Yes, you have been putting out a tremendous amount of effort to let the world know about the persecution of Falun Gong. Well done!”

One VIP guest at the festival was a transplant surgeon who mentioned that he regularly visits China. “I'm going to carefully read through the organ harvesting report after I get home,” he said. When he heard that a veteran military doctor reported seeing more than 60,000 voluntary organ donation forms filled in with the same handwritten signature, he was shocked at the Party's evil and base nature

Around 3:00 a.m., the festival officially ended. As the practitioners were packing up their things to go home, the security staff on duty asked the practitioners for some informational fliers to read.
