(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Lixia, 49, was arrested on May 11, 2013, and is facing an illegal trial. Her family has hired a lawyer to plead not-guilty on her behalf.
Ms. Wang went to the Xiliao River dam on the evening of May 11, 2013, to hang a truth clarification banner with three other practitioners. She was reported by a forest ranger, and arrested by deputy director Xu Jing and other officers from the Kerqin District Domestic Security Division. They were interrogated separately, searched, and detained at the local police department.
Officer Wang Bo interrogated them that evening. Ms. Wang didn't tell him her name. He didn't let her sleep. Late that night, Ms. Wang suddenly went into spasms and started a hunger strike. They took her to the hospital, but the doctor said she was pretending to be ill.
Ms. Wang was taken to the Hexi Detention Center on May 16, where she continued her hunger strike to protest the persecution. Officers from the Kerqin District Police Department, and Dongsan Police Station in Gongzhuling City asked Mr. Wang's sister to come to Tongliao City in Inner Mongolia. After she arrived, she was shown a photo of Ms. Wang and was asked to confirm Ms. Wang's identity. Her sister didn’t know what had happened and confirmed Ms. Wang's identity.
An officer from the Kerqin District Domestic Security Division informed Ms. Wang's family on May 24 that she had been arrested, and that her case had been turned over to the Gongzhuling Procuratorate. But Ms. Wang was later transferred to the Siping City Detention Center. Ms. Wang's daughter went to the Kerqin District Domestic Security Division a few times and asked the officers there to release her mother, but she was not allowed to see her.
Ms. Wang, who is from Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, and she followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in her daily life. She had a lovely daughter and a warm family. But when the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, her husband and 12-year-old daughter started to worry about her livelihood and safety.
Ms. Wang was sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2001. Her husband took a mistress while she was gone. Her daughter suddenly felt at odds for not having her mother around, and couldn't take such hardship. She ceased her studies and lost the opportunity to attend a university. She is doing odd jobs to survive.
Ms. Wang's husband was afraid of being implicated and losing his position where he worked, so he divorced her and no longer supported her. The local police monitored her and harassed her. To avoid further persecution, she was forced to become homeless. She sold her house and used all of her savings to survive over the next decade. She didn't have a fixed address and couldn't see her daughter.
Ms. Wang didn't cooperate with the guards and refused to be “transformed” while she was held in the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp in 2001. She was made to do forced labor and was sworn at and shocked with electric batons by the guards.
Ms. Wang was arrested in 2006 by officers from the Dongsan Police Station in Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province, when she was visiting her relatives. She was held at Gongzhuling Detention Center for more than 40 days. She was force-fed and otherwise tortured during her detention. Her credit card was confiscated and 3,000 yuan was taken. She was released 40 days later because she was dying.
Ms. Wang had to leave her home to avoid persecution after she was released. She has had to conceal her identity, and has been homeless since 2006.
Ms. Wang's family has found a lawyer to plea not-guilty for her. We hope people with a sense of justice can lend a hand to support and provide more information pertaining to this injustice.
