Additional Persecution News from China – July 5, 2013 (12 Reports)
(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 4 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment, and at least 16 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhou Shumei Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Ms. Zhou Shumei from Shanghai was sentenced to four years in prison by the Hongkou Court on July 2, 2013.
2. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Dong Guizhi and Ms. Dong Shuchun Arrested
Ms. Dong Guizhi and Ms. Dong Shuchun from Daodi Town, Fengnan District, were arrested for explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people in Fujiatuo Village, Daodi Town, on July 4, 2013. Their homes were ransacked. They are being held in the Daodi Police Station.
3. [Urumqi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region] Ms. Liu Hong and Ms. Yan Xuehua Held in Brainwashing Center
Ms. Liu Hong from New District was taken to the Nanshan Brainwashing Center on the morning of June 27, 2013. Ms. Yan Xuehua, also from New District, was taken to the Nanshan Brainwashing Center on the evening of June 29, 2013.
4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Jian Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison
Mr. Wang Jian was arrested by officers from the Minzhu Police Station in Zhongshan District on July 6, 2012. His home was ransacked.
On June 27, 2013, the Shahekou Court sentenced Mr. Wang Jian to seven years in prison.

5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yan Min and Her Son Arrested
Ms. Yan Min and her son, Mr. Sun Yang, from Jinniu District were arrested at the end of June 2013. Their home was ransacked.
6. [Beijing] Ms. He Weidong Detained
Ms. He Weidong, 64, was arrested on the afternoon of July 1, 2013, while explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people. She is being held in the Changping Detention Center.
7. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Guo Shuyan and Ms. Ma Lili Taken to Brainwashing Center
Mr. Guo Shuyan and Ms. Ma Lili from the Daqing City No.10 Oil Extraction Factory were taken to the Daqing No. 721 Brainwashing Center on June 25, 2013.
The next day, Ms. Ma threw away the food she was given, suspecting that it was laden with unknown drugs. She was later taken to a hospital, where tests showed that her blood contained a drug used to treat mental illness. This suggests that she was administered such drugs without giving consent at the brainwashing center.

8. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Lili Arrested
Ms. Wang Lili from Huaiancheng Town, Huaian County, was arrested and taken to the local police station on the morning of June 20, 2013, for speaking to people about Falun Gong. She was released after police extorted 1,000 yuan from her husband.

9. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lan Xinfen and Her Husband Arrested
Ms. Lan Xinfen from Wulaotun, Wanghua District, was arrested on June 30, 2013, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs in Lishida Market. Her home was subsequently ransacked and her husband was also arrested.

10. [Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Jiuhong Detained
Ms. Zhang Jiuhong, in her 40s, was arrested by officers from the Chengxi Police Station on the morning of July 3, 2013, for explaining the facts about Falun Gong at Xijiangbinhe Road. She was sent to the Chongzhou City Detention Center.
11. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Five Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center
Mr. Cao Yawen, Mr. Zhang Liexiang, Ms. He Jincui and two other practitioners were taken to the Beihu District Brainwashing Center some time between June 26 and July 4, 2013.
12. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhang Baodi Held in Brainwashing Center
Ms. Zhang Baodi from Baoshan District is being held in a brainwashing center.
