(Minghui.org)On May 7, 2013, Xingwen County Court in Sichuan Province fabricated charges and illegally sentenced three Falun Gong practitioners to prison.

Mr. Xu Qiyang, 70, a retired teacher, was sentenced to eight years in prison; Ms. Gao Chaojun, 61, also a retired teacher, was sentenced to seven years; and Mr. Huang Shunkun, 63, retired from a food service company, was sentenced to ten years.

On August 23, 2012, Xingwen County Police Department deputy chief Zeng Qinghong, 610 Office director Xie Zhongliang, national security team captain Huang Chuanwu, deputy captain Li Qi and Zhongcheng Town police station chief Luo Jinsong orchestrated the arrests of Mr. Xu, Mr. Huang Shunkun, and Ms. Gao.

Also participating in the arrests were 610 Office agents Huang Chuanwu, Li Zhen, Luo Xin, and Zhao Xuequan; community Party secretary Ding Wei; community director Duan Xianfeng; and others. On September 29, the Xingwen County Procuratorate approved the arrests.

On January 31, 2013, the practitioners were tried in Xingwen County Court. The public prosecutor was Lu Qiwen. The presiding judge was Cao Zhongkang, and the juror was Yao Gang. More than a dozen police officers stood guard to "maintain order." During the trial, human rights attorney Liang Xiaojun pleaded not guilty for Mr. Xu Qiyang and the others.

Mr. Xu Qiyang said in his defense, “I cultivate Falun Gong and follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. This is not only my own personal belief but also the belief of millions of Chinese. The CCP persecutes Falun Gong. My producing and handing out fliers clarifying the facts is allowed by the Chinese Constitution. It is my legal right. We do this to stop the persecution.” Mr. Xu refused to renounce Falun Gong for an early release.

On May 7, 2013, the Xingwen County Court sentenced Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Xu Qiyang to eight years in prison, Ms. Gao Chaojun to seven years, and Mr. Huang Shunkun to ten years.
