Mr. Zhang Yizhi, Ms. Qi Kuiling and Family Subjected to Long-Term Persecution

June 04, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhang Yizhi and his wife, Ms. Qi Kuiling, are farmers from Fengtaizheng Village, Yaodianzhi Town, Yishui County in Shandong Province. Since they started practicing Falun Dafa, they have benefited both mentally and physically. Their relationship with other family members and their neighbors has also improved. When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Dafa, the couple went to appeal through the proper channels of government.

Unfortunately, they were illegally arrested, incarcerated and brutally beaten by local police and government officials. Mr. Zhang has been sentenced to a labor camp once, and Ms. Qi Kuling has been sentenced there twice.

Detained and brutally beaten

Mr. Zhang and Ms. Qi attended a local Falun Dafa experience-sharing conference on August 29, 1999. All of the practitioners there were arrested and detained at a local police station. Ms. Qi was forced to sit on the cold floor overnight. The officers made her stretch out her legs and hold her feet with her hands. She was forced to maintain this posture for a long period of time without moving, otherwise she would be kicked. She was taken to Yishui County Detention Center the following day and was detained there for half a month.

When Ms. Qi was released from the detention center, she was not allowed to go home, and was taken back to the town police station. She was asked whether she was going to continue to practice Falun Gong, and she answered, “It's such a good practice. How could I not continue?” Du Jifu, a local police officer, viciously slapped her in the face, making her mouth swell up and turn purple. He then forced her to squat down. That evening, officer Lei Fudong again asked Ms. Qi whether she would continue to practice Falun Gong. She refused to answer. Officer Lei then kicked her to the ground and then continued to kick her several times. She was allowed to go home the following day, but as a result of the beatings she was unable to walk for several days.

Repeatedly subjected to forced labor

The party secretary of Fengtaizhuang Village Zhang Jingpeng and several officers from the police station ransacked Mr. Zhang and Ms. Qi's home in 2004. They arrested Mr. Zhang and his son, and confiscated their Dafa books and other personal belongings. That afternoon, they again broke into the couple's residence while no one was at home.

In 2005, officials from the county 610 Office sentenced Mr. Zhang to three years of forced labor. He was taken to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, where he was subjected to brutal treatment and made to do hard labor. He was released in August 2007.

However, just a few days later, on September 3, Ms. Qi Kuiling was arrested by an officer outside the Yaodianzi Police Station. The officer slapped her and then handcuffed her. Afterward, four or five officers drove her back to her home at 11:00 p.m. They ransacked her residence and confiscated Falun Dafa books and truth-clarification materials. The police then dragged Ms. Qi and her husband to a car and took them to the police station, where they were detained overnight. The next day, the couple was taken to Yishui County Detention Center.

Mr. Zhang was released after ten days in detention, but Ms. Qi was taken to Jinan Forced Labor Camp after being detained for an additional 20 days.

Ms. Qi's mother and sister-in-law treated badly at police station

When Ms. Qi's family learned the news about her incarceration in a forced labor camp, her son went to visit her to drop off some clothes. The guards refused to let him see her and told him that she had been diagnosed with many illnesses. Upon returning home, Ms. Qi's son told his grandmother about his mother's condition. Ms. Qi's mother was very concerned about her daughter and asked her daughter-in-law Ms. Zhang to take her to Yaodianzi Police Station. As soon as Ms Qi's mother asked an officer about her, he told her to get out. The officer then called over a younger subordinate and said to him, “Get them out of here quickly - they are making a scene!”

Ms. Qi's mother cried hopelessly on the steps outside the police station, but the police forced her away to a secluded area. An officer then grabbed Ms. Qi's sister-in-law by the hair, and dragged her back into the police station and into a room, where she was beaten. Another officer was then told to watch her. When Ms. Qi's sister-in-law tried to tell the officer about Falun Dafa, and how good is rewarded and evil is punished, he did not listen and tried to stop her from talking.

After a while, Ms. Qi's sister-in-law was allowed to leave. As Ms. Qi's mother saw that her daughter-in-law had been beaten badly, she asked the police, “Why do you beat people?” An officer replied mockingly, “Who is beating her? I don't know what you are talking about.”

Brutally beaten and tortured at the labor camp

Ms. Qi endured numerous beatings and torture in the labor camp because she refused to renounce her belief. Wang Ruiyao, head of No. 2 Team, and a group of inmates once placed Ms. Qi's bed sheet on the floor and told her to do the Falun Gong exercises on it. When she sat down, they covered her with the sheet and beat her with broomsticks. When Ms. Qi tried to talk, they sealed her mouth with tape. She was then forced to stand up straight for the whole day, which caused her legs to become swollen.

When Ms. Qi refused to do the military drill, she was brutally beaten again. Her legs were covered with bruises and she had difficulty going to the restroom. Ms. Qi sometimes ate stale steamed buns that had been soaked in water. But when the guards saw her, she was punished by being forced to stand under the baking sun until her clothes were soaked with sweat. She became so emaciated that the guards forced her to wear long, thick cotton clothes to prevent her condition from being noticed by the others.

Guards tried to force Ms. Qi to put her fingerprint on a copy of a guarantee statement. When she refused, they pinned her on the ground and forcibly placed her hand on the document. She said to them, “It's invalid. I don't acknowledge it! My Master doesn't acknowledge it.” The guards then viciously kicked her in the head until she lost consciousness.

Despite such extreme conditions in the camp, Ms. Qi still clarified the truth to the guards and inmates. When she was reported to the guards for talking to people about Falun Gong, they brutally beat her until she started spitting up blood. She was taken to the hospital for an examination, which revealed that her mouth had been ripped open. The laceration still causes her pain today.

Ms. Qi vomits a large amount of blood during second labor camp term

In September 2011, a group of people went to Ms. Qi's home to harass her and tell her not to go out. On October 6, while Ms. Qi was cooking breakfast, the village party secretary Zhang Yugang and several officers from the county police department, Yaodianzhi Town Police Station and Xujiahu Police Station broke into her home. They confiscated her Dafa books, MP3 players, cell phones and even her wedding video. Ms. Qi was arrested, along with practitioners Zhang Shenfen, Zhang Shenyan and Yang Hongju. They were taken to Xujiahu Police Station, where they were detained for a whole day without food or water. The next day they were taken to Linyi Detention Center.

Ms. Qi refused to recite the detention center rules, and was punished by being forced to stand up straight for a whole day. She was also made to do long hours of hard labor. Ms. Qi was returned to Xujiahu Police Station after being detained there for 17 days. In the police station she started to vomit blood. Officer Du Jifu conveyed no pity and even scolded her. She was held at the police station for the night, before being taken to Jinan Forced Labor Camp for 15 months.

Ms. Qi continued to be mistreated during her second term in Jinan Forced Labor Camp, and her health deteriorated. Guard Wang from No.1 Division didn't allow her to eat during meal times and constantly scolded her. Afterward, she often vomited and experienced stomach pain after eating cold food, and she lost a lot of weight. She was diagnosed with having two tumors on her liver. In such a condition, she was still often put into solitary confinement. To prevent her from being seen, the guards did not allow her to use the main restroom.

In September 2012, Ms. Qi started vomiting large amounts of blood and her hair turned white. She was eventually released after her original term was extended by eight days.
