(Minghui.org) Police and agents from the Weifang City 610 Office carried out a mass arrest of many Falun Gong practitioners on April 15, 2013. Among them, Mr. Wang Shenghua and Ms. Yuan Qingxia are still being held at the Weifang City Detention Center, and Mr. Fu Jian is held at the Shouguang Brainwashing Center.
Their family members have been visiting government agencies almost every day to request their release. However, officials have refused to release these innocent practitioners.
Below is the story of Mr. Wang. He once fought a fire in order to save state-owned property. For this heroic effort, he received a “model worker” award.
After the communist regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, both Mr. Wang and his wife, Ms. Dai Zongzhen, were arrested, detained, and sent to forced labor camps multiple times. Their salaries were also frozen.
During the 1970s, Mr. Wang worked as a driver for the Weifang City No. 2 Transport Company. One day there was a fire in the maintenance workshop. There were several oil drums inside the shop near the fire. If the drums caught fire, they would have exploded.
Completely disregarding his own safety, Mr. Wang dashed into the fire several times to roll the oil drums out. The state property was protected, but he suffered from severe burns and serious medical complications for months afterward. In addition, he developed heart disease, arthritis and other illnesses.
Mr. Wang suffered so much that he wished for death. Medical treatment was very expensive, and the Transport Company stopped paying for his medical expenses soon afterward.
This heartless treatment by his work unit, as well as the painful suffering, contributed to Mr. Wang's mental instability. He would unexpectedly burst out in a rage against his family members and others for no apparent reason.
Ms. Dai was mentally and physically exhausted trying to care for her husband and their family. She resented taking him around for treatments while trying to care for the rest of the family. Due to enormous stress, she developed heart disease and kidney problems.
Although she was hospitalized several times, her illnesses showed no signs of improvement. She became so depressed and upset that she would just stare off into space and sometimes even faint.
The whole family lived in despair.
By the summer of 1995, the couple was on the verge of collapse. They learned about Falun Gong through some friends. They both experienced the miraculous health benefits of the practice after just a couple of days, and both soon became free of illness.
The couple was able to resume a normal life. Later, they both went to work at the Weifang City United Front Department.
Having learned Falun Gong, they held themselves firmly to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They won praise from their work leaders and colleagues alike.
The Chinese communist regime launched a violent suppression of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. On the morning of the same day, police secretly arrested Ms. Dai. She was locked up for hours before being released.
When the couple went to Beijing to visit their daughter, Ms. Wang Peng, in October 1999, the three of them decided to visit the State Appeals Office to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. When they stopped to sit in Tiananmen Square on the way there, they were illegally arrested.
The family of three were escorted back to their hometown, where Ms. Dai was detained for one month and Mr. Wang for 15 days. After their daughter returned to school in Beijing, the Beijing Police Department refused to allow her to live in the city, and her school kicked her out. She was thus forced to return home.
In April 2000, Mr. Wang and his daughter went to visit a friend. Kuiwen police detained them for 24 hours at a bus station. Ms. Wang Peng was then released, but Mr. Wang was detained for 45 days.
Officials attempted to arrest Mr. Wang and his wife again in autumn 2000. The couple had no choice but to leave home to avoid being arrested. Their salaries were subsequently frozen and they lived a hard life in the state of homelessness. To make a living, they later opened a kindergarten with the help of relatives and friends.
Just as their life improved a little, authorities began to harass them again. On April 18, 2007, more than 20 plainclothes officers went to the kindergarten and arrested Ms. Dai and her daughter. The police ransacked the kindergarten and confiscated a TV set, a DVD player, a computer, Falun Gong books and about 8,000 yuan in cash.
Weifang City United Front Department head Xu Penglil collaborated with Weifang 610 Office and Kuiwen police to arrest Mr. Wang again on April 22, 2008. He was held at the Weifang Detention Center for more than a month.
On May 20, 2008, officials from the Weifang 610 Office and Weifang Police Department transferred him to the Zhangqiu Forced Labor Camp. Due to the prolonged mistreatment at the labor camp, Mr. Wang's health drastically worsened; he became bed-ridden and could no longer walk.
Mr. Dai Zongqiu, Ms. Dai’s younger brother, was also a practitioner. He died in July 2011 as a result the persecution.
Weifang Domestic Security Division officer Gu Zhiyong and two other agents came to Mr. Wang’s home at 5 a.m. on April 15, 2013. They pounded on the door, but Mr. Wang did not come out.
Police then arrested another practitioner, Mr. Tan Folin, who is nearly 80 years old, when he went out to buy breakfast. They ransacked his home and arrested Mr. Wang when he visited there.
Mr. Tan was released due to illness. Mr. Wang was taken to the Weifang City Detention Center, where he has been detained ever since.
