What Caused Snow in April in Handan City?

June 12, 2013 |

(Minghui.org) Spring is usually a warm time of year in Handan City, Hebei Province, but on April 19, the temperature suddenly began dropping as dark clouds gathered in the sky. At around 1:00 p.m., a freezing cold wind began blowing and hail pelted down, soon turning to snow. It seemed as if winter had returned in full force. Snow fell until dusk. One elderly Handan resident said that he had never seen snow in April.

Many Handan citizens began to wonder what had caused the unusual snow in April.

Before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its atheist ideology took over, most Chinese people believed that “Heaven and humankind are one.” In other words, if the government does not rule with justice, Heaven compassionately warns humanity with natural disasters. Was it because of all the Falun Gong practitioners who have been wrongfully charged and persecuted?

For 14 years, the Handan Metropolitan District Government and its law enforcement thugs have carried out a devastating and inhuman persecution of Falun Gong in the metropolitan area. Over 1,000 practitioners have been sentenced to forced labor, imprisonment or incarcerated in various brainwashing centers, and close to 100 have been tortured to death. More than 10 million yuan has been extorted from practitioners, and countless numbers of Falun Gong books, truth-clarifying materials, and other personal belongings have been confiscated. A large number of practitioners have been persecuted to the point of mental collapse.

Incidents of Persecution in Handan City Leading Up to April 2013

What happened from January to April 2013?

Practitioners Zhang Baohua, Dang Xianxia, Luo Jinyu, and Yang Xianglian were illegally arrested by officers from Congxi Police Station while they were posting truth-clarifying banners at around 9:00 p.m. on February 24. Ms. Yang Xianglian was released later that night, but her residence was ransacked. The other three practitioners were detained for 15 days.

Practitioner Mr. Hu Kaoshi clarified the truth on the west side of Handan City in the morning on March 5. He was arrested and detained in Hucun Police Station. That afternoon, officers from the Fuxing District Domestic Security Bureau, Hucun Police Station, and Shengliqiao Police Station ransacked Mr. Kaoshi’s residence. Officials at the Hucun Police Station notified Mr. Kao’s family that he would be detained for 15 days in Handan County Detention Center. The next morning, his family went to Hucun Police Station to ask them to release Mr. Kao. They were "fined" 1,000 yuan.

Mr. Wang Jianling, a practitioner from Zhanghedian Township, Chengan County, Hebei Province, drove his truck to deliver goods to Xinnanya Pottery and China Cooperation Inc. in Neihuang County, Henan Province on the morning of April 14. When he was checking out, Mr. Wang told the cashier, Ma Hongxia, the facts about Falun Gong. Because Ma was deeply poisoned by CCP propaganda, she reported Mr. Wang to the police, and Mr. Wang was arrested by officers from Houhe Police Station in Neihuang County. He is now in the county detention center.

On the morning of April 18, Lu Yinghai and other officers illegally arrested 75-year-old practitioner Mr. Chen Yuyuan in the compound of Hebei Industrial University in Handan City. Afterward, they all went to Mr. Chen’s residence and ransacked it. They shoved Mr. Chen’s wife down onto the sofa and took his computer, printer, printing supplies, and Dafa materials. They detained Mr. Chen in Kaiyuan Police Station. He was later released.

Ms. Wang Aiying Indicted by Wu'an Court for her Faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance

The Wu'an City Court tried practitioner Ms. Wang Aiying for a second time at around 9:00 a.m. on March 1. The presiding judge was Dong Guanghui. The defense lawyer pleaded not guilty and presented a convincing argument. The prosecutor however, presented new “testimony.” The defense lawyer then argued that the new testimony proved that the defendant was innocent. Prosecutor Yu Weiping left the courtroom and never returned.

The original verdict was upheld. The judge simply followed the regime's orders and charged Ms. Wang with “Using an illegal organization to interfere with the implementation of the law,” and gave her a three-year sentence. Without any legal evidence, the verdict was upheld. Ms. Wang has appealed to Handan Intermediate Court. What were the circumstances?

Police officers Zhang Lihua, He Xuwu, and Zhang Aibin from Wu'an City broke into the home of Mr. Wang Hongliang and Ms. Wang Aiying on the morning of June 1, 2011, arresting both of them. The police took their personal belongings and 14,900 yuan in cash.

This March, the Wu'an Court gave Mr. Wang Hongliang a three-year sentence, and Ms. Wang Aiying a four-year sentence. They both appealed to the Handan Intermediate Court, which returned the case to the Wu'an Court for a rehearing due to lack of evidence. The Wu'an Court released Wang Hongliang on bail, but kept Wang Aiying for further accusation.

Mr. Liu Yong Tortured in a Mental Hospital for Over 12 Years

To shatter the solid faith of Falun Gong practitioners, CCP agents have often claimed that practitioners are mentally ill, and routinely detain them in mental hospitals to persecute them. Mr. Liu Yong, employed by the Handan Steel Corporation Inc., was sent to Baoding Mental Hospital. Regime officials have been torturing Mr. Liu for over 12 years, claiming he is mentally ill.

Mr. Liu, 42, went to Beijing four times to appeal for Falun Gong. He was sentenced to forced labor on November 26, 1999. In Handan Forced Labor Camp, he was brutally tortured and brainwashed. After he returned home, his mother, deceived by CCP propaganda into hating Falun Gong, collaborated with Handan Steel Corporation to send her son to Baoding Mental Hospital for “treatment,” despite the fact that Mr. Liu was not mentally ill.

Mr. Liu was forced to take drugs harmful to the central nervous system even though the doctors admitted, “We know you’re not sick. We’re under pressure and were ordered to do this, so we have no choice.” To make him mentally ill, the doctors injected him with unidentified drugs. As a result he was in so much misery that he almost died. With his solid faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Mr. Liu has survived and his mental condition remains stable.

To prevent information about Mr. Liu's mistreatment from being leaked to the outside world, the mental hospital does not permit him access to writing materials. He is not allowed to write to or call his family, and his family and friends are not allowed to visit him. He is completely isolated from the outside world. Concerned about him, some of his relatives and friends have called the hospital, but the hospital prohibits Mr. Liu from talking to them. This has been going on for more than 12 years.

Mr. Liu has spent his golden years in a mental hospital. It's hard to imagine how this once healthy and energetic man has survived the endless dark days during all these years! Every single day he wishes to leave the mental hospital and live a normal life. The head of the hospital insists that he will remain there until the head of his work unit sends someone to the hospital to release him. Handan Steel Cooperation Inc. authorities completely have ignored him and refused to send anyone to release him. Mr. Liu’s mother, hoodwinked by the CCP propaganda, refuses to listen and learn the truth about Falun Gong or her son’s real situation. Nor is she willing to rescue him. Her mind is still filled with the CCP lies. She stubbornly believes that if her son does not give up Falun Gong, he is “mentally ill” and needs the government’s “kind treatment.”
