(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Defu was tried in the Dadong District Court in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, on the morning of March 29, 2013. The trial lasted from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and ended without a conviction. Five family members and friends attended the trial.

Prosecutor Li Wenhui charged Mr. Liu with practicing Falun Gong and used the printer and Dafa books seized from Mr. Liu's home as evidence.

The defense lawyer said that Mr. Liu was innocent. He pointed out that having faith is not illegal, and neither is practicing Falun Gong. The attorney defended Mr. Liu's innocence based on morality, human rights, the rule of law, and the Constitution.

The prosecutor's face turned red. The judge went through the procedure as a mere formality. A court observer said, “The judge and prosecutor do not understand the law. They are unqualified.”

Mr. Liu stated during the proceedings that being a practitioner and following Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance to be a good person does not violate the law.

Mr. Liu, 60, lives in the Shenhe District of Shenyang. He used to run a small business. Years of hard work caused his health to decline. He suffered from cervical spondylosis, high blood pressure, and many other health problems. He became unsociable and hot tempered. Since he began practicing Falun Gong in 1999, he has followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and has become a better person. All of his illnesses disappeared. He became cheerful and enthusiastic, and is always ready to help others. He takes the initiative to help neighbors and friends in need, and his neighbors all praise him for being a good person.

Mr. Liu was reported while telling others the facts abpit Falun Gong on December 9, 2012. He was arrested and first taken to the Dabei Police Station. Then he was transferred to the Dadong District Detention Center.

He has been held in the Dadong District Detention Center for almost four months. His health is worrisome to his family, with his blood pressure measuring as high as 200. He also feels numbness in parts of his body.
