(Minghui.org) I am 71 years old and obtained the Fa in February 1996. If I hadn't practiced Falun Gong, I would not be writing this experience-sharing article today.
Nearing the end of my life
I was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis in 1986 and had sought medical treatment from a lot of hospitals in northeastern China, yet my situation steadily worsened. Two years later, I began taking extended sick leave from work.
In 1995, I was diagnosed with terminal lymphoma and was told that I had no more than three months to live. I thought to myself, “My life will soon be over!”
Learning Falun Dafa
While I was waiting to die, one of my friends introduced me to Falun Gong and lent me two books, Falun Gong and Zhuan Falun.
Master said:
“Taking medication during cultivation implies that you do not believe in the disease-curing effects of cultivation.” (Falun Gong)
I was determined not to take any medicine and gave my life to Dafa. Master accepted me as a practitioner and began purifying my body. Soon after, all of my illnesses disappeared.
About a month later, I met a colleague who exclaimed, “You look healthier than most people!” Then I told her that Master had purified my body. A store manager whom I hadn't seen for a while jokingly asked me if I had become younger and told me that my complexion looked great. I took this opportunity to introduce him to Dafa.
I made my cultivation a top priority and took every chance that I could to study the Fa and do the exercises.
Validating the Fa
In 1999, I went to Beijing on two separate occasions to validate the Fa. Officers from the local 610 Office knew that I was a practitioner and were planning to coerce me into betraying Master and the Fa on TV.
An officer from the 610 Office, with the surname Zhang, asked me on the phone if I would be willing to make disparaging comments about Falun Gong on camera. I told him definitely, “No! I would never do that!” I then hung up. The next day, he phoned me again and asked me to visit his office. I agreed, but told him that I would never go against my conscience, even if they put a knife to my throat.
I recited Master's words:
“Under trying circumstances of any type, you must all keep steady in thought. Just by staying unaffected you will be able to handle all situations.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Conference in the Midwest-U.S.”)
I also asked Master to help me so that I could leave the 610 Office as quickly as possible. When I was in a room with the 610 agents, I suddenly went extremely pale and hiccuped loudly. The agents in the room knew that I used to suffer from a terminal illness, so none of them were wanting to possibly take responsibility for me dying in their custody. They quickly let me leave. Under Master's protection, I was able to go home.
Coping with constant harassment
Since the persecution started, I have been continuously harassed by the police and my home phone is tapped.
Over ten security personnel broke into my residence in September 2000 to carry out a search. My first thought was, “They will not find any Dafa-related materials!” Indeed they did not find anything and soon left.
Three people from the local residential community and a police officer came by my home in 2001 to try to extort 5,000 yuan from me. I refused to give them any money. Instead I clarified the facts to them and shared my experiences of being terminally ill and getting well after practicing Dafa. They were deeply touched by my words and the community director even shed tears. The police officer said, “Do not tell me anymore or I will become a Falun Gong practitioner myself!” I also refused to sign the papers that they brought along. They finally left without accomplishing anything that they initially intended.
Between July and August 2002, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ordered a city-wide search of practitioners' homes. However, I was not deterred in the least and kept distributing truth clarification materials as usual.
One day, around the dates of the National People's Congress and the Chinese Peoples' Political Consultative Conference in 2003, three police officers pounded on my front door. I knew that they had come to arrest me. I calmly sat down to send righteous thoughts. After about 20 minutes, they left, probably because they thought no one was at home.
I have distributed truth clarification materials to about 20,000 homes since the persecution began in July 1999.
Improving myself
One day in 2005, I was trying to figure out how to enter a three-story building with three electronic security gates.
I suddenly recalled what Master said:
“When her family saw that she was insane and always ran out of the house, they would lock her up in the house. Once her family members left the house, she would unlock the door just by pointing her fingers at the lock. Then she would run off.” (Zhuan Falun)
I sent righteous thoughts towards the electronic gates several times the next day. That night, I went back and gave each gate a hard push, and they all opened. I walked into the building and distributed my truth clarification materials. After I shared my story with some fellow practitioners, with the attachment of showing off, the next evening I could not open the locked gates of other buildings. After looking within, I rooted out this attachment.
The deputy CCP secretary of a middle school walked past me one time, but I did not tell him about Falun Gong because I took it for granted that he would not be able to accept what I would tell him. Over the course of the next few days, I kept seeing him, again and again. I took this as a hint that he might be waiting for me to save him. When I finally told him about Falun Gong, he quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
Overcoming sickness karma
In April 2006, I suddenly experienced the symptoms of tuberculosis. I felt very weak, kept coughing, had a fever, and I sweat a lot at night. I was certain that it was not an illness, so I sent forth righteous thoughts and kept doing the three things as usual. About 40 days later, all of my symptoms disappeared.
A stick-shaped object was discovered in my upper abdomen in May 2006. I would feel a sharp pain whenever I laughed, burped, coughed, or moved suddenly. The situation did not improve, even after sending forth righteous thoughts for several days. I decided to ignore it and continued to do everything that I needed to do, just as before. Shortly after, I was fine.
In October 2007, I slipped off a chair that I was standing on and landed on the ceramic tile floor. Although my left hand was badly bruised, I didn't think about it and continued to do the three things. After about two weeks, I had fully recovered.
