Remaining Unmoved by Unpleasant Encounters

February 07, 2013 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Jilin Province

(Minghui.org) When faced with clarifying the truth face-to- face, I did not do it well. The main reason was that I was afraid of being criticized. Each time I encountered criticism, I would get very upset. In the days that followed, I would think constantly about the unpleasant incident. And although I would force myself to clarify the truth daily, the results were discouraging.

After reading Master’s new article “Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa - Fa Teaching Given at the 2011 Washington DC Metro Area Fa Conference,” I was determined to turn “the unpleasant encounters” into good experiences. Below are a few examples:

One day as I was telling people the facts about Falun Gong and distributing Shen Yun DVDs at the market, a man in his 40s said, “Are you Falun Gong? Go away.” I started to walk off, but suddenly remembered Master’s teachings and thought in my heart that this was a good thing and that I should be happy. Thus I smiled and said, “Falun Gong practitioners are all good people. I’ll give you a DVD for your own good. If you understand the facts about Falun Gong, you will be saved.” He interrupted and said, “Don’t tell me about that. If you continue, I will call the police.” I smiled and said, “I tell you this for your own safety; you did not even thank me.” He said, “How dare you continue? Come with me! Let’s go to the police department.” He tugged at my sleeve and pulled me along. At this point, six to seven people had gathered around us. I was delighted and said, “I do this for your own good. You are not appreciative and still want to take me to the police department. Then let’s go. It would be good to give out some of the DVDs to the police officers as well.” He dragged me for another 15 meters and then let me go.

Another morning, I went to a park and saw a young man pushing an empty rubbish cart. He put down his cart and tore down a truth clarifying poster from a power pole, cursing away as he did so. When I saw people do similar things in the past, I would be angry, but dared not do anything about it. This time I did not get angry, but I did go after him. As he pushed his cart, I followed and said, “The CCP's innumerable political movements over the years caused at least 80 million people to die. Now they are persecuting Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners are all good people; whoever persecutes them will receive retribution.” There were many people passing by, and a few of them slowed down to listen. We came to another power pole. I pointed to the poster and said, “See, there is another one. Don’t tear it down.” He took a look at me and left without a word.

On another occasion in another park, I saw a group of people gathered around a fellow female practitioner, who was clarifying the truth to them. A man in his 70s interrupted her and asked where she had learned the information. The practitioner replied, “The Minghui website.” The man said that the government’s official news agencies were the most accurate and that all the sources on the Internet were false. After he blurted this out, he turned to squeeze out of the crowd. Once again I remembered Master’s words to turn bad incidents into good ones. I quickly squeezed in from the outside to block his way and said, “Don’t go yet. I would like to say something.” The man turned back. I told everyone, “The official government news may not be accurate. The self-immolation incident on Tiananmen Square that framed Falun Gong practitioners is called, 'False Fire.' An international human rights organization claimed that the self-immolation incident was staged by the CCP.” The man interrupted me, “Oh, are you also Falun Gong?” I said, “Falun Gong practitioners abide by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” The other practitioner then continued to clarify the truth about Falun Gong.
