(Minghui.org) Mr. Yan Kejian, Head of Hankou Branch's Loan Division of the Agricultural Development Bank, was arrested at work on November 6, 2012, by the Wuhan City Police Department. His home was ransacked. Mr. Yan is being detained at Beihu Farm Brainwashing Center, Baiyu Mountain, the Qingshan District of Wuhan City, which is over 40 kilometers away from his home.610 Office agents ordered his employer to assign two coworkers to the brainwashing center to monitor and pressure him. His family are trying to deliver winter clothes to him but cannot find any proper channel or personnel in charge.
An Incorruptible Loan Officer with High Morals
In the early 1980s, Mr. Yan graduated from a banking school. Within five years, he was promoted from a simple bank branch clerk to the district level, then to the city level, and then to the head of the loan division. He was the youngest division head in the whole of Wuhan's financial sector, and he was also awarded the official title of “economist.”
In April 1996, he started practicing Falun Gong, and his life underwent a complete change as he started to conduct himself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance.
Prior to his practice of Falun Gong, Mr. Yan suffered chronic diseases, such as gastritis, migraines, a frozen shoulder, and hypoglycemia. After practicing Falun Gong, they disappeared without a trace and without spending a penny in government medical assistance funds. He was full of energy and enthusiasm and was efficient and conscientious. He quit playing poker and gambling. After work every day he would seize every moment to study the Fa and do his household chores. He used to be the authority figure at home and easily resorted to verbal and physical abuse to dictate to other family members. After practicing Falun Gong, he strove to adhere to the principle that one should not fight back when being punched or insulted. His family life improved considerably.
He always paid his own travel expenses or rode a bicycle to go investigate companies that applied for a loan. Unlike before, he no longer accepted any meals or drinks or participated in any gambling or other entrainment activities the companies arranged for him. He refused all monetary and other company gifts. People would comment to him, “Your superiors take what we offer. Why are you afraid and hold back?” He would explain, “I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I hope you understand.”
In the late 1990s, his bank built a 20-story residential building that its employees could live in for free. The building had elevators, air conditioning, hot water, and other amenities. His bank also provided free interior designing and renovation for its employees. According the scoring system at the time, Mr. Yan could easily have gotten a three-bedroom, two-living room apartment of over 100 square meters. However, he did not submit an application, because his family of three already had a two-bedroom one-living room house, which was enough for him. He was the only employee who met the standard but did not apply for a new home. His superiors kept asking him whether he would apply but he refused politely every time. Knowing his situation, some people commented, “Nowadays so many people struggle and fight for something they don't deserve. You, on the other hand, won't take what you are entitled to.”
People do have a conscience, and Falun Gong has uplifted people's moral standards. It is based on the personal experience of millions of practitioners.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has detained Mr. Yan in brainwashing centers three times just for practicing Falun Gong.
Detained for 11 months, from 2001 until February 2002, he was beaten so savagely that he suffered a traumatic brain injury.
After his release, Qiaokou Police Department officers did not wait until he fully recovered before they took him from work to a brainwashing center. Mr. Yan vomited and could not eat anything for nearly three weeks. Li Wei, Ma Zhibiao, and other officials held his limbs down, grabbed his hair and nose, pried his mouth open with two pieces of bamboo, and force-fed him every day. Sometimes they would even pick up the food that had been vomited out onto the floor and put it back into his mouth. They ordered staff members to torture him with sleep deprivation and psychological warfare tactics. They also locked him up in a solitary cell, where the interior was covered with slanderous slogans and banners and had a deafening sound system. Over and over Mr. Yan was forced to watch anti-Falun Gong videos. He did not give in despite all the torture.
Li Wei then forced Mr. Yan to stand up straight facing the wall for long periods of time. When Mr. Yan started to fall, Li Wei grabbed his hair and slammed his head against the wall, kicked him and punched him until Mr. Yan was covered in cuts and bruises. He suffered a seizure and was incontinent. The next day, because Mr. Yan did not give in, the authorities tied his hands behind his back and then to the metal window frame so that his knees touched the ground. Mr. Yan's knees were quickly scraped and bloody. They then tied him with all his limbs spread out on window frames for several days. When Mr. Yan lost consciousness, Ma Zhibiao and others used toothpicks to stab the cuts on his knees and other sensitive body parts and put lit cigarettes in his nostrils. According to witnesses' accounts, Mr. Yan was tortured to a near vegetative state.
On November 6, 2012, Mr. Yan was arrested again from work by Wuhan City police, and his home was ransacked. The police confiscated his personal computer, printer, and Falun Gong books and materials, among other personal belongings. Mr. Yan is now in Beihu Farm Brainwashing Center in Wuhan City. Two co-workers monitor and hound him, and his family can't find a way to get him any winter clothes.
