Sixteen-Year-Old Girl in Chengdu City Denied Her Right to an Education

February 19, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Sichuan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Xue, 16, lives in Huohua Village, Tangchang Town, Pi County in Chengdu City. She was an outstanding student in a fraternity vocational school until she was

expelled and denied the right to an education in September 2012, because she persisted in practicing Falun Gong and following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Three generations of Ms. Li's family were studying the Fa on July 9, 2012 with about 25 other local Falun Gong practitioners. More than a dozen police officers arrested and took them all to a detention center. Ms. Li was released the next day because she was still a minor.

In mid July 2012, officer Zhang from the 610 Office; Deng Yanghong, director of the Office of Student Affairs; and other school leaders broke into Ms. Li Xue's home. They urged her to give up practicing Falun Gong, causing her great psychological pressure. Around August 20, Principal Yang Xinghong and a few other leaders went to visit her again. They wanted her to write a guarantee statement, and threatened to expel her from school if she did not give up her beliefs, but she refused.

When school reopened on September 1, Ms. Li went to school as usual, because she had already paid her tuition. Principal Yang Xinghong told her teacher to send Li Xue to the principal's office. The principal urged her to give up her belief. Li Xue insisted that it was not wrong to be a nice person and to believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She refused to give up her beliefs. The principal showed her the expulsion documents and made her leave the school.

One month into the school year, Jiang Degui and another staff member from the Tangchang Town 610 Office went to Li Xue's home and told her to write a guarantee statement promising to give up her beliefs (she was told to copy an example they provided). She would not be allowed to return to school unless she wrote it. Li Xue refused, so she was not allowed to return to school.

We ask everyone—UNESCO, the international community, and international web media, to please show solicitude for this girl's education.
