(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Miao Huixia and Mr. Wang Mingquan, from Huan County in Gansu Province, were arrested on September 22, 2013. Ms. Miao's computer and printer were also confiscated by Zhang Jiannan, director of the Huan County Domestic Security Division.
Mr. Wang was held for 15 days at the Huan County Detention Center before he was released. Ms. Miao, however, is still held at the Qingcheng County Detention Center.
Ms. Miao and Mr. Wang were distributing informational flyers about Falun Dafa and the persecution in Lujiawan Town on September 22, 2013. Someone reported them to the authorities and they were arrested.
Director Zhang Jiannan of the Huan County Domestic Security Division ordered Xu, head of Maojing Police Station, and three officers to take Ms. Miao and Mr. Wang to the Maojing Police Station. There, director Zhang, instructor Jing Weijun, and three officers interrogated both practitioners at the same time.
Later in the evening, Ms. Miao and Mr. Wang were transferred to the Huan County Domestic Security Division, where they were again interrogated separately.
During the interrogation, Mr. Wang's hands were handcuffed behind his back. Director Zhang began to brutally kick him on the back and the chest. When Mr. Wang fell to the ground, Zhang continued to kick him on the side of his lower body. Then Zhang hit him in the back with a mop.
Mr. Wang was transferred to the Huan County Detention Center the next day at around 12 p.m. He was detained for 15 days before being released. Ms. Miao Huixia was transferred to the Qingcheng County Detention Center, where she is still incarcerated.
After Mr. Wang was released, he went to the local police station to get his motorcycle, house keys, and cell phone that were confiscated by the police. Officer Jing Weijun refused to return Mr. Wang's personal items, and even had the audacity to ask him for his landlord's cell number, so the police can call the landlord to “help” them monitor him.
Jing also informed Mr. Wang that he needed permission from the local domestic security division or the police if he wanted to move to or work in a different city. Jing said, “You can come get your motorcycle when I call you, otherwise, you won't be able to ever get it back.” He also called the director of the Maojing Police Station, telling him not to return Mr. Wang's motorcycle without his permission. Mr. Wang's motorcycle has still not been returned to him.
Ms. Miao and her husband, Mr. Kou Ping, were arrested in February 2003. Ms. Miao was later sentenced to one year and three months in a forced labor camp, while her husband was sentenced to three years in prison.
Ms. Miao and her husband were arrested again for the second time on August 27, 2011. Ms. Miao was given a suspended sentence, and her husband was sentenced to four years in prison.
Ms. Miao was fired by her company as a result of the persecution of Falun Gong. She had no income and had to borrow money to buy a new computer and a printer to make a living taking videos and photos for people.
