A few days ago Ms. Liu Siqing's family received a call from Yangmahe Township Women's Prison in Jianyang City, Sichuan Province. Ms. Liu has been detained there for three years, and her family was told that she is now blind.

Ms. Liu Siqing was the technical expert for the salt factory in the Gaoping District of Nanchong City. She was very weak and had many illnesses, but after she started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, she regained her health.

She conducted herself according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was kind and was reliable and responsible at work. She was held in high regard in the neighborhood.

Ms. Liu’s husband was a member of the Gaoping District Trade and Commercial Bureau. He has been persecuted by the CCP over the last 12 years. He was demoted. The former happy family was torn apart, and wife, husband, mother, and son were separated.

Beaten in Police Station, then Detained

On March 2, 2010, Ms. Liu and Mr. Du Xiuyun were arrested for clarifying the truth and taken to the Anping Township Police Station.

The police locked Ms. Liu in a dark room and shackled her bare feet. They whipped her with a leather belt and a thick metal wire covered with plastic tubing. They hit her eyes and ears with their fists. Ms. Liu’s eyes became swollen and bruised. Afterwards, she had trouble hearing. The police also kicked her legs, and she then had difficulty walking.

Several officers tried to take their photos. When they didn't cooperate, the police slapped them in the face. The police also demanded to know their names, addresses, and the source of the informational materials. The two did not cooperate, so the police threatened Mr. Du, “If you don't tell us, we'll have you raped.”

Relatives went to the police station to bring clothing, but the police wouldn’t let them in because they were afraid that their deeds would be exposed on the Minghui website.

That afternoon, Ms. Liu and Mr. Du were taken to Jialing District Detention Center in Nanchong City.

On March 9, Ms. Liu was transferred to Nanchong City Detention Center. The guards didn’t allow her family to visit, afraid that they would see her bruises and injuries. Without any medical treatment and not being allowed to practice, Ms. Liu could not recover.

Slave Labor in Yangmahe Township Women's Prison Led to Blindness

On June 24, 2010, Ms. Liu was given a four-year sentence and sent to Yangmahe Township Women's Prison.

In the prison, Ms. Liu not only suffered spiritual and financial persecution but also had to do intense slave labor for long hours. Within three years, Ms. Liu’s health quickly deteriorated and she became totally blind.

Despite her condition, she was not allowed to go home or be treated. They continued to make her do slave labor.

A few days ago, afraid of being held responsible, the prison guards called Ms. Liu’s family. Her family was told that her status was not good and they could come visit her.

Her family went right away and saw that she was almost completely blind. Her eyelids were swollen and she was extremely weak. This once beautiful woman was now a wreck. Her family was very sad. The prison still refused to release her and said it might take another three months.

Repeatedly Persecuted

Throughout the last ten years, Ms. Liu suffered repeated persecution. She was put into forced labor camps, subjected to brainwashing, and illegally sentenced to prison.

1. Detention and House Arrest

In November 1999, Ms. Liu and her father (who was also a Falun Gong practitioner) were arrested and persecuted at the Gaoping District Detention Center. After more than a month, her brother spent about 3,000 yuan to get her out.

While father and daughter were detained, they had limited personal freedom and were deprived of their freedom of speech. The food they were given consisted of small portions of moldy rice.

Their family was only allowed to send clothes and money. The prices of necessities at the detention center were several times higher than outside. The detention center authorities exploited the detainees and pocketed any profits.

The guards used thick ropes to tie their arms backwards. They were put on a truck with criminal detainees and paraded on the street. A thick cardboard sign was hung from Ms. Liu's father's neck on which was written all kinds of slander. Armed police were at their sides, and they were not allowed to raise their heads. The police wanted to humiliate them.

In 2000, Ms. Liu went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was detained. After she was released, the 610 Office would not let her husband work for one month and monitored Ms. Liu at her home every day. She was not allowed to contact anyone.

Her company also persecuted her, placing her under house arrest and refusing to allow her to do the technical work that was her job. Instead, she had to clean and do other menial chores. Her wages dropped to 150 yuan per month. She also had 5,000 yuan deducted from her paycheck.

2. Arrested by Gaoping District 610 Office, Persecuted in Gaoping Detention Center

On January 9, 2001, Ms. Liu was arrested a second time by the Gaoping District 610 Office and the Domestic Security team and sent to Gaoping Detention Center. She was forced to remove five to ten kilograms of lice and maggots from bulk pig hair every day. If she failed to meet the day's quota, she was beaten, sometimes with hard shoe soles, or whatever was handy, until her buttocks swelled and she couldn't sit down. Living conditions were deplorable in the detention center, and she only had small portions of moldy rice to eat.

When Ms. Liu practiced the Falun Gong exercises, the guards on duty saw her. Director Yao ordered prisoners to put handcuffs and shackles that weighed over 12 kilograms on her to stop her from practicing. She had to wear the handcuffs and shackles for over a week, even when she ate, worked, or slept. Her hands and feet were bloody.

Yao criticized her, “How dare you practice the exercises while detained here! We'll see how you practice with chains on.”

A month later, they announced that Ms. Liu was sentenced to a year and a half of forced labor. In May 2001, she was taken to the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zizhong City.

3. Brainwashed in Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp

In the labor camp, she was forced to take off all her clothes and was thoroughly searched in the courtyard. She was then told to get dressed and stand by the wall without moving. If she moved, a guard would tell criminals to beat her. At night, she was not allowed to sleep if she didn’t write the three statements slandering Dafa. She had to stand all the time and wasn't allowed to use the restroom.

To try to make the practitioners renounce their belief, the labor camp forced them to read books and watch TV that slandered Dafa every day and then ordered them to write "thought reports."

Shocking with electric batons, beatings, verbal abuse, being cursed, denial of restroom use, and withholding meals were all common means of torture.

4. House Arrest and Brainwashing at the Salt Factory

After she was released, Ms. Liu had 5,000 yuan extorted from her. During the Chinese New Year, she was placed under house arrest in the salt factory and not allowed to go home. Her manager, under orders from the 610 Office and Domestic Security Team, kept her under house arrest in the salt factory hotel during holidays after that. They also harassed frequently her the rest of the year.

To pressure Ms. Liu into giving up her belief, the evildoers demoted her husband from his position in the Trade and Commercial Bureau, hoping to provoke discontent and hatred.

During the 16th Party Congress Conference in 2002, Ms. Liu was placed under house arrest in the salt factory. She had to go to work in the day and to the hotel at night. The factory security department staff took turns monitoring her. She was not allowed to go home even on Chinese New Year's Eve.

On July 29, 2005, Ms. Liu was arrested and taken to a brainwashing facility. They played programs that slandered Dafa every day and pressured her to write "thought reports" and the three statements. They used high pressure tactics to force her to give up her practice.

5. Sentenced to Forced Labor a Second Time

On April 18, 2007, Ms. Liu was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Team of the Gaoping District. Her home was ransacked and her belongings confiscated. At first she was detained at the Hufeng Detention Center in Nanchong City. Around the middle of May, she was sentenced to one year and three months of forced labor by the Gaoping District Police Department. She was transferred to Nanchong City Detention Center.

On May 22, 2007, the prison doctor shocked her with an electric baton, and her face swelled. Several months later, they tried to transfer her to Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp. Due to Ms. Liu’s family's efforts, she was able to stay in Nanchong City Detention Center until her release.
