Ms. Rui Kerong Illegally Tried Twice for Installing Satellite Receiver

November 20, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Rui Kerong was illegally arrested in June 2012 for installing a DBV-Satellite receiver to help people watch New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) programs. Her case was submitted to the Yanbian Prefecture Court. She has faced trial twice, but no verdict has been handed down.

Ms. Rui Kerong, in her sixties, lives in Yanji City, Jilin Province. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has persecuted her many times for her belief in Falun Dafa. Police broke into Ms. Rui's house at around 9:30 a.m. on February 22, 2011, and arrested her. She was physically abused while in detention, and was released on medical parole on March 4, 2011.

During her detention, the Yanji City Procuratorate notified Ms. Rui that they had received her case. Ms. Rui was unaware of the situation until then. Several Yanji City Procuratorate officials were also surprised that the case was sent to them without notifying Ms. Rui first.

Yanji City officers Zheng Zhezhu and Li Chengzhe went to Ms. Rui's house on June 5, 2012. The officers lied to her by saying that she needed to finish some paperwork that she had submitted in 2011, for the “sentence to be served outside.” She was subsequently taken to the Domestic Security Division, then taken to the Yanji City Detention Center that afternoon.

Their excuse was that Ms. Rui was helping others install DBV-Satellite receivers to watch NTDTV broadcasts. Actually, many people in Yanbian have installed DBV-S receivers in their homes. Even Li Qinge, the public prosecution section director of Yanji City Procuratorate, who was in charge of Ms. Rui's case, has a DBV-S receiver at home. Li, however, does not allow others to watch NTDTV's programming.

NTDTV is the only Chinese language TV station that broadcasts uncensored programs, around the clock, into China. It is an independent station, and is the only source of truthful news for the people in China. The CCP has deprived its citizens of their basic right to obtain reliable news and information.
