(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Wei from Changchun City is currently incarcerated in the Third Detention Center in Changchun.
Officers from the Domestic Security Division of Changchun Police Department and the police station at the Economical Technology Development Area arrested Mr. Li on June 2, 2013. They searched his apartment without a search warrant, then misrepresented the commodities from Mr. Li's company as "evidence" to charge him. The Procuratorate at the Economical Technology Development Area turned down the case. However, the police continued to fabricate evidence to try to charge him.
Mr. Li's family was angered by the baseless arrest and demanded that the Changchun Police Department and the Police Station at the Economical Technology Development Area release Mr. Li. They hired an attorney to represent him. However, the police refused to let his attorney meet with him. After the family fought for their right to visit, the police eventually allowed Mr. Li's attorney to see him.
According to the attorney, Mr. Li's mental state was fine and he had not given the police any statement. Mr. Li had lost a lot of weight and had hypothyroidism.
The family learned that when the police searched Mr. Li's apartment, they found 20,000 yuan from his savings. The police confiscated the money, saying that it was going to be used for printing information about Falun Dafa and was thus illegal. However, the police never issued a receipt.
In the process of fighting for justice, his family was humiliated and pushed around by police officers. The family plans to appeal to the police supervisors.
