(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Qun from Chongqing has been held in Ward No. 10 of Yongchuan Prison since July 2011. He has been subjected to severe physical abuse and torture and denied family visits. When his uncle and aunt, who are in their 80s, and his relatives traveled to the prison which is located on a mountain on August 13, 2012 to deliver money and daily necessities to Mr. Wu, the officials would not allow them to see him with the excuse that they are not immediate family members.

Mr. Wu's uncle and aunt said that his parents died long ago, and that when he was young, they took care of him. They also pointed out that the Yongchuan Prison had mailed the notice for his admission to prison to Mr. Wu's uncle. After a guard listened to their explanation, he wanted to let Mr. Wu come out to meet with his family, but Ward 10 heads Chen Jusheng and others stopped the guard. From their conversation, Mr. Wu's family learned that he is being held in a solitary confinement cell.

When Mr. Wu's family asked the prison officials about his physical condition, they claimed that Mr. Wu “didn't behave well,” because he refused to renounce his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Upon hearing this, Mr. Wu's family became worried about his situation, especially since they had been denied seeing him in person. The ward heads told Mr. Wu's family to go directly to the prison's Education Section.

Despite the heat and scorching sun, the elderly couple made the hour-long bus ride to the prison's Education Section, but upon arriving there, they were not allowed to enter the gate. The gate guards called the Prison Administrative Section and Education Section on the phone, but the officials shirked responsibility and finally told the guards to tell Mr. Wu's family to go back to Ward No. 10 on the mountain.

With the temperature reaching 60 centigrade that afternoon, the elderly couple couldn't endure the heat, and were tearfully forced to leave and return home. Mr. Wu Qun's family is very worried about his safety, and hope that kindhearted people will voice their concern.

Mr. Wu Qun was previously subjected to forced labor three times, and suffered barbaric physical abuse and mistreatment. Following his arrest on July 19, 2010 by officers from Yuzhong District, he was held in the Liziba Detention Center, until Yuzhong District Court officials sentenced him to four years in prison in August 2011, and sent him to Yongchuan Prison. Mr. Wu has remained steadfast in his belief and refuses to be “transformed.” Since the beginning of this year, prison officials have escalated the pressure in an attempt to “transform” practitioners who remain steadfast in their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Mr. Wu held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The guards and criminals force-fed Mr. Wu, greatly damaging his health. Yongchuan Prison officials had to send Mr. Wu to the hospital for treatment.
