(Minghui.org) In May 2012, Falun Gong practitioners around the world celebrated the 20th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public and held large-scale activities in major cities such as New York, Vancouver, and Taipei.

Radio Taiwan International (RTI) reported that on May 30, 7400 Falun Gong practitioners dressed in a variety of solid colors lined up and formed the image of Mr. Li Hongzhi on Liberty Square. Mr. Li is the founder of Falun Dafa and he first taught Falun Dafa in China in 1992.

Most people in Taiwan learned about Falun Dafa because the Chinese Communist regime launched a brutal suppression against the practice in 1999. Thirteen years later, residents of Taiwan are well aware of the facts regarding the persecution of Falun Gong and the number of practitioners has grown significantly.

Mr. Li first taught Falun Dafa in Jilin Province, China. The practice is based on Buddha School teachings and includes five sets of exercises. The core principles of the practice are Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and practitioners follow these principles in their daily lives. Before 1999, according to the official statistics, there were between 70 million to 100 million people practicing Falun Gong in China. After 1999, the practice spread to over 100 countries and areas in the world.
