Shanxi Women's Prison Adds Unknown Drugs to the Food of Falun Gong Practitioners

June 29, 2012 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shanxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) Shanxi Women's Prison is reported to add unknown drugs to the food of Falun Gong practitioners who have refused to renounce their belief in the practice. Ms. Li Runfang and Ms. Kang Suqin have reportedly suffered from symptoms of the unknown drugs.

Shanxi Women's Prison is located in Maoerling, Yuci District, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. Prison guards are alleged to add drugs to rice porridge when Falun Gong practitioners detained in the isolation room are most frail from long periods of standing still as torture. Sometimes prison guards inject drugs into steamed buns or force-feed Falun Gong practitioners with crushed pills.

There are ten areas in Shanxi Women's Prison. Each area has an isolation room where Falun Gong practitioners are tortured. The curtains are drawn day and night inside the locked rooms. Falun Gong practitioners are kept inside the rooms, each monitored by up to four people around the clock. They are deprived of sleep for 24 hours and are made to stand still, away from the wall so that they won't have anything to lean against. When practitioners fail to stand still, they are beaten. They are deprived of showering, washing and toilet use. They are not allowed to wash their hands before meals. Anytime they close their eyes, cold water is poured on their faces. Some practitioners were soaking wet in the middle of winter. The majority of the people designated to watch Falun Gong practitioners are in prison for homicide, drug addiction or other felonies. They willingly torture Falun Gong practitioners in exchange for a little benefit. These inmates have been verbally insulting and beating Falun Gong practitioners in attempts to make them renounce Falun Gong. The inmates broadcast hate propaganda video programs day and night, sometimes at high volume.

According to a report by Minghui.org on April 3, 2012, Ms. Li Runfang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, has been sentenced to six years in prison for practicing Falun Gong and spreading the truth about the practice. Shanxi Women's Prison has denied her father from visiting for nine months, because he, too, practices Falun Gong. Her father asked only to be able to see Ms. Li through the glass without speaking to her over the phone, but this request was denied as well.

Ms. Kang Suqin, a local Falun Gong practitioner in her 60's, has been repeatedly imprisoned for practicing Falun Gong. She was arrested by police officer Wan Bolin in October 2002 and imprisoned in Taiyuan City Detention Center. She was suspended in the air and flogged for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. She was also forced to wear handcuffs and foot shackles.
