Wuchang Court Wrongly Sentences Seven Practitioners - New Crimes Committed by the Political and Legal Committee

June 28, 2012 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Wuchang Court in Wuhan disregarded proper legal procedures and wrongly sentenced seven Falun Gong practitioners to anywhere from three to six years. Beginning on May 19, the trial lasted for only six days. Evidence and testimonies were totally ignored, as were the attorney's strong defensive arguments.

Wuchang District Court judges sentenced Mr. Zhang Su to six years, Mr. Zhang Weijie to five years, Mr. Feng Zhen to five years, Mr. Feng Yun to three and a half years, Ms. Han Shuhua to three years, Mr. Xia Yang to three years, and Mr. Xiong Weiming to three years suspended for four years. Those participating in the unjust proceedings included Presiding Judge Huang Yuanfeng of the Wuchang District Court, Judge Deng Jun, Zhou Hongjun, secretary Chen Yuan, Tong Yiyun, inspector Zhang Wei of the Wuchang District Procuratorate, and deputy inspector Peng Yanling. Their signatures and the verdict records are evidence of their crimes.

Minghui first reported on the story on June 9: “CCP Officials in Wuhan City, Hubei Province Planned Trial of Seven Falun Gong Practitioners”

In the 12 years the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been persecuting Falun Gong, at least 42 practitioners in Wuchang have been illegally sentenced. Most of these sentences were handed down by the Wuchang Court, with the longest prison term being 11 years. Many practitioners were sentenced more than twice, with the longest sentences totaling 13 years. Wuchang Court officials have actively persecuted Falun Gong practitioners, usually disregarding proper protocol completely. Here are two more examples.

On January 10, 2011, Wuchang Court put Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tang Hai'an on trial, notifying his family just an hour before the proceedings began. There was no defendant, no attorneys, and no observers in the courtroom. The attorney general just asked the litigant several questions and then adjourned. On January 13, his family received a notice that Mr. Tang had been sentenced to five years.

On September 27, 2011, Mr. Li Huosheng was put on trial secretly, without any of his family members or associates being notified. Nobody was present to observe. There was no defense for Mr. Li. His family was finally notified when Mr. Li wrote a letter from the detention center, saying that he had been sentenced to five years. This was the only letter allowed to reach his family; previous letters were withheld.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zeng Jianxin was convicted by Wuchang Court on February 1, 2002. He sold train tickets. He was illegally sentenced because he purchased 20 train tickets for practitioners who wanted to go to petition in Beijing.
