(Minghui.org) My wife was released from the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center in 2003, after serving one year of forced labor for practicing Falun Gong. She was eager to see Dafa materials, but was not in contact with fellow practitioners, so she said to me, “Let's buy a computer to access the Minghui website!” So we bought a computer.
We were very happy to own a computer, but also anxious, as none of us had any computer knowledge. I have only recently learned to use the word processing and the spreadsheet programs. After bypassing the Internet blockade we could view the Minghui website for the first time. It felt so great.
We didn't know how to browse and download, so we attended a computer class. During the class, we tried to surf the Internet. We didn't understand computer safety and downloaded a virus, so we had to ask the computer company to recover the system.
1. Setting up a Self-sufficient Family Materials Production Site
Fellow practitioners gave us the Minghui Weekly, brochures, flyers, and so on. After seeing the materials, we decided to produce them in the same way. We bought a printer with the computer, but didn't know how to use it. We then bought a laser multi-functional printer, for photocopying the flyers from a fellow practitioner. We gradually learned all the necessary computer and printer functions.
In the beginning, when Nine Commentaries on the Communist Partywere published, it was separated into three booklets. We downloaded and tried to produce it. That's when our family materials production site began operations.
2. Making Materials Is a Learning Process
The local coordinator was informed about our situation and came to see us. He said he would find a technical person to teach us. This was what we had hoped for, and readily agreed. From then on we started to supply a dozen people with truth-clarification materials about Falun Gong.
As we did not understand the technology, we asked for help from technicians when we ran into a problem. As the technicians were busy serving other production sites, we envied their skill, and wished to learn these skills. I wanted to learn how to repair all the machinery, and reduce the burden on the technicians. When I encountered problems, we began searching the Internet. From then on I was able to solve some basic problems. With time, my skills improved and we no longer depended on the technician.
3.Making Materials Is a Process of Abandoning Attachments
Teacher said in Zhuan Falun,
“...the entire cultivation process for a practitioner is one of constantly giving up human attachments.”
We encountered various tests while producing materials. We visited others during the New Year holiday and could not access the Internet. Upon returning home, I received a text message on my cell phone as soon as I arrived at home, “What's wrong? Are you sick? You haven't been online for several days.” My heart fluttered and I said to my wife, “This is not good! We were probably tracked by the Internet police and they now have details about us, even my cell phone number, and certainly know about my Internet activities.”
We exchanged thoughts and realized that it was dark minions and rotten demons monitoring us! They were instigating evildoers to interfere and create illusions to prevent us from making materials. I calmed down, and sat down to send righteous thoughts to disintegrate any evil interference before I went online. I gradually calmed down and was able to eliminate my fear.
There were also other tests. The local coordinator sent a message to our team, saying that our cultivation states were not good and suggested we stop making Falun Gong materials. We exchanged views and decided that no one could stop us from validating Dafa and saving people. So we continued to make materials for our own team's use. At first, we committed to produce several Minghui Weekly for the team and kept the spare copies ourselves. Later, team members often asked us to provide some truth-clarification materials and we agreed. So we started producing materials again. We passed this test because of our strong belief in saving sentient beings and our faith in Dafa.
I later learned computer operating technology from the technician. I could now make flyers, brochures, burn CDs, make stickers, install an MP3, make truth-clarification letters, and more.We had difficulties producing a master copy and downloading relatively larger DVD files in our area. Therefore, I took on this task. After downloading the new Shen Yun performance DVD, it was distributed to every materials production site by the coordinator. Some other groups also asked me for materials when they ran out, and my production site won praise. I was so proud of my achievement. Teacher said,
“For a cultivator, all the frustrations he comes across among everyday people are trials, and all the compliments he receives are tests.” (“A Cultivator is Naturally Part of It,” from Essentials for Further Advancement)
I also found when looking within that I had the attachments of showing off.
When I heard that other sites received materials from my team. I became frustrated because I was to only supply my team. My wife shared with me, “We make materials to save people, no matter who. As long as they distribute materials, do things to save people, we should be happy and strongly support them! How can we separate who does what?” I realized that I had a selfish heart. Teacher has warned us,
“From now on, whatever you do, you should consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism.” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature,” from Essentials for Further Advancement)
However I still held the selfishness of an everyday person!
Making the materials also involved submitting articles to Minghui. When I submitted the first article, I made every effort to edit it, so that Minghui practitioners wouldn't have too much of a workload, but my writing skills were limited. Minghui practitioners edited and published the article. They encouraged me to continue submitting articles to Minghui.
4. Assisting the Coordinator to do Well in Saving People
Several local practitioners were arrested. The new person in charge often asked us to provide some support. Saving sentient beings is the responsibility of all practitioners. There are no conditions when validating the Fa, so we worked with the coordinator to establish multiple materials sites in other areas. The Politics and Law Committee and 610 Office held brainwashing sessions in our local area. We used various methods to expose the brainwashing. We put up stickers in the area, which greatly frightened the evil.
This is only a small part of all that has happened here. As a practitioner I have done some work to save people, and tried to meet Teacher's requirements in doing the three things well. We need to work hard, rectify the Fa, and not disappoint Teacher.
