(Minghui.org) Shi Yaohui is a Pudong New District court judge in Shanghai. He has actively participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, including the persecution of Mr. Zhuang Wei, a practitioner in the Pudong New District.
Shi sentenced Mr. Yang Jinmiao and his daughter, Ms. Yang Hairong, to three and a half years of imprisonment. Mr. Yang Jinmiao was illegally arrested on July 4, 2008 when he was distributing Falun Gong materials. When the police ransacked his home, they also illegally arrested his two daughters. An open court session for them commenced on February 21, 2009. When the lawyer was making his argument, Shi Yaohui stopped him multiple times. Presiding judge Liu Juanjuan sentenced Yang Jinmiao and Yang Hairong each to three years and six months.
Ms. Zeng Aihua sentenced to three years of imprisonment
Ms. Zeng Aihua used to be a Hong Kong resident. In order to help more Chinese people know the facts about Falun Gong, she went to Shanghai. She was arrested on May 22, 2006.
Her daughter Chen Muhai is a resident of Australia who tried to rescue her mom after hearing about her being arrested. In both Australia and Hong Kong, congressmen and government officials helped her, and media outlets in Australia, Hong Kong and the United States reported her story.
Meanwhile, the Shanghai 610 Office threatened and harassed her daughter overseas. They also applied pressure to her lawyer and created problems for her defense. The Pudong Court obstructed justice by changing the court session time and forbidding observers from attending. During the trial, Judge Shi Yaohui took out a document that he had prepared ahead of time, and announced that Ms. Zeng Aihua was sentenced to three years. After she appealed, the appeals court upheld the original judgment without holding another hearing.
Mr. Pan Jijun sentenced to seven years
Mr. Pan Jijun is from Jiaozhou, Shandong Province. He graduated from Shanghai Medical School and worked for the Oriental Hospital in Shanghai. He was held at a detention center for two years. Mr. Pan was arrested the evening of July 11, 2005. Pudong District Court opened his case on March 3, 2006, and Mr. Pan defended himself. On March 10, the court sentenced him to seven years in a closed session. The judge was Shi Yaohui.
Ms. Huang Ying sentenced to three years
The Pudong Court opened the first session for Ms. Huang Ying on August 4, 2011. Huang Ying demanded her own lawyer after meeting with the one that the court assigned to her. On August 17, 2011, the second session began. The lawyer and Huang Ying entered a not guilty plea. Judge Shi Yaohui had nothing further to say, and adjourned the session. On August 30 the third session opened. This time they simply announced that Huang Ying would be sentenced to three years.
Mr. Feng Jixing sentenced
Mr. Feng Jixing was an analyst for the Shanghai Thirty-One Industrial Company. He was illegally arrested on June 29, 2011. When the session was about to open, the judge suddenly asked to have witness Liu Juan leave the court. Then the judge threatened Feng Jixing's lawyer and limited what he could say. The lawyer could only argue briefly. The session was finished within half an hour.
Shi Yaohui was also involved in judgments against Ms. Ma Yueying, Ms. Li Fuju and Ms. Gan Chaohua. Ms. Ma Yueying was sentenced to seven years, Gan Chaohua five years and Li Fuju three years. In addition, Pudong Court officials sentenced Ms. Fan from Heilongjiang Province, Ms. Xing from Sichuan Province and Zhu from the Pudong District in Shanghai, Wu from Pudong and Lu.
