(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Yaoxue from Zhonghe Village, Xiangling Town, Xiangfen County, Shanxi Province, was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison in July 2007. He developed symptoms of illness in August 2009 in the Qi County Prison. His family appealed to the prison officials many times demanding his release, but to no avail. After Mr. Lu's situation was reported on the Minghui website, Mr. Lu's family was eventually able to take him home. On December 11, 2009 Mr. Lu's family brought him home from the hospital in Taiyuan City. Mr. Lu was unable to get up and had difficulty speaking. He passed away just one month later, on January 9, 2010.

After Mr. Lu Yaoxue was incarcerated, his health declined alarmingly. On August 3, 2009, he was diagnosed with high blood pressure associated with a stroke. The prison demanded that his family pay the medical costs. After hearing the news, Mr. Lu's family visited him at Qi County Prison and noticed that he needed help to walk because one leg and one arm had become paralyzed.

Mr. Lu's son bought a wheelchair for Mr. Lu and sent it to the prison. Mr. Lu's family requested his release, but the prison would not approve the request. Later, they took Mr. Lu to the Taiyuan 109 Hospital, where he was diagnosed with cerebral hemorrhage. While he was in the hospital, no one took care of him. For two days he was given no food or water. His family repeatedly requested that he be released so they could take care of him, but the prison disciplinary officer said, "Let him die. There are many dead [meaning one more death is inconsequential]." In less than 20 days after Mr. Lu was examined, his condition grew drastically worse.

Later, when Mr. Lu's family went to the prison to visit him, the prison tried to keep them from seeing him. Additionally, whenever they visited, the prison extorted money for medical expenses from them. Mr. Lu was eventually taken home from the hospital on December 11, 2009. He was unable to get up and had difficulty speaking. He died less than a month later, on January 9, 2010.
