It’s Up to Us Whether We Can Access the Internet

November 04, 2012 |   By a practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) After reading a few articles on the Minghui website about how practitioners in Mainland China have been able to beat the Internet blockade and continue to access blocked sites like Minghui, I would also like to share my experiences of how I have managed to access restricted sites on the Internet in China.

A practitioner from out-of-town helped me to set up my computer and taught me how to access the Minghui website and use the anti-censorship software Freegate. He also advised me not to read other news websites as I may find it too distracting to cultivation.

I knew very little about computers and so followed his advice. For a year, I did not visit any other news websites. I only read Minghui using Freegate, and never experienced any problems surfing online. I have been using the Internet for over 3 years, and didn’t know anything about the Internet censorship or the Chinese firewall for about 2 years.

During the latter half of 2010, I started getting in contact with local practitioners. My skills at using the Internet were developing and I started making truth clarification materials. About half a year ago, a practitioner taught me how to access the Internet using Ultrasurf. I was now able to use my skills to surf other websites, and often read online mainstream news. I also started to learn about the firewall and Internet censorship. Then my notion of “breaking through the Internet blockade” came into being.

In September 2012, I told local practitioners that whoever has an article to submit for the Internet Experience Sharing Conference for Practitioners in China should provide me with their submissions one day before the deadline. I had a notion about censorship and acknowledged the existence of an Internet blockade. I anticipated severe interference online nearer the deadline date, and therefore couldn’t take in submissions if the Internet wasn’t working. I planned to break through the blockage within one day. I knew this thought wasn’t right, but I didn’t fully eliminate this notion.

I suddenly couldn’t access the Internet for a few days in late September, but didn’t give it much thought, as I didn't need to download Minghui Weekly during those days. However, this had never happened to me before. I was also concerned that other practitioners might not be able to contact me via the Internet if they needed me.

One morning, I waited for a fellow practitioner on her way to work. As soon as she saw me, she asked me why I was not online anymore. I said: “I haven’t been able to.” The practitioner told me that she had been online all these days, and asked if I had seen a sharing article that stated that going online from other dimensions never encounters the Internet blockade. I smiled and said: “The old forces just bully those without sufficient righteous thoughts.”

I then thought about another practitioner's sharing: A practitioner had recently been released from a detention center, and her whole family applied for a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Travel Pass and passport. Many practitioners have had a hard time getting these two documents granted after leaving the detention center. This practitioner thought: not only will I get them, but I'll obtain them really soon. She received her documents, and the process was really quick. Her documents were delivered to her home while her non-practitioner family members’ documents were still not ready.

After I returned home I tried to go online. I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all of the old force elements that may cause interference from my computer to the other end of the Internet. I recited the formula:

“The Fa rectifies the Cosmos; the Evil is completely eliminated.” (“The Two Hand Positions for Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts” in Essentials for Further Advancement II).

I then directed my righteous thoughts to this dimension and those involved in the Internet blockade. I recited the formula:

“The Fa rectifies Heaven and Earth; immediate retribution in this lifetime.” (“The Two Hand Positions for Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts” in Essentials for Further Advancement II).

Once I took this approach, I could go online immediately. Since that day, I have never had problems connecting to the Internet.

Sometimes I cannot connect to the Internet immediately, but I don't get anxious. I no longer think about the Internet blockade. I simply look at the computer and think: “I will eliminate the old forces, however many there are. The old forces must be eliminated.”

I was downloading Minghui Weekly the other day when I became disconnected from the Internet, just as I was about to finish. I realized that I was too selfish and only cared about myself. I should have considered all practitioners in Mainland China and ordinary people, and should eliminate all of the old force elements involved in blocking and censoring the Internet throughout China.

When I’m online, I often think of Master’s Fa:

“The old forces don't dare to oppose our clarifying the truth or saving sentient beings. What's key is to not let them take advantage of the gaps in your state of mind when you do things.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston”)

I know I shouldn’t read mainstream news, so I don’t. I know that I must deliver Minghui Weekly to practitioners on time, so I don't experience problems downloading the magazine. I know that I must keep in contact with practitioners online, so I am able to stay online. If I think it’s OK to forward the names of those who quit the CCP tomorrow, and that it doesn’t have to be today, then I will encounter interference and won't be able get online today. Therefore, one’s will and thoughts are very important. We need to be very clear about what we want.

“They've never been able to block the Minghui website!” (“Explaining the Fa During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference”)

Master has already paved the path for us. Whether we are able to go online depends on our righteous thoughts. Don’t overly rely on the upgrades of the anti-censorship software. Too much reliance will bring pressure on our technical practitioners. Can we tear down the firewall and completely eliminate the old force factors? I think we still need to improve as one body. The improvement of understanding, change of notions, breakthrough of realms and the elimination of attachments all contribute to improving our environment. If we can all achieve that, the old forces will disappear.
