(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 12 provinces. According to this report, 20 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 19 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Shengjie in Critical Condition

Ms. Li Shengjie was arrested on July 12, 2012, and is being held at the Dalian Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. She is now in critical condition and has developed serious heart problems. The detention center authorities refuse to release her. They force-fed her with drugs that caused her to vomit.

Many practitioners were also arrested on July 6, 2012. More than 10 practitioners were sentenced to forced labor.

2. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Over a Dozen Practitioners Detained

Several practitioners are being held at the Jinan Detention Center. Ms. Liu Hui, 55, Ms. Li Fanli, and several other female practitioners are being held in the women's section. Ms. Li fainted in the yard on August 10, 2012. She was diagnosed with severe anemia and released at noon the same day.

About 10 male practitioners are being held in the men's section. One male practitioner has been on a hunger strike for more than 5 days.

3. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Hu Anshu and Ms. Yang Zhiqun Arrested

Mr. Hu Anshu and Ms. Yang Zhiqun, from Renhe District, were arrested on May 4, 2012. Their arrests were approved on June 8.

4. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Shuyu Taken to a Brainwashing Center

Ms. Zhang Shuyu, in her 50s, was arrested at her rental home on July 25, 2012. The police grabbed her keys and opened the door. They ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. Ms. Zhang was taken to Nanshan Brainwashing Center in Xiabancheng, Chengde County.

5. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuqing Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor

Ms. Zhang Xiuqing, in her 50s, was arrested at home by officers from the Domestic Security Division and the Shidongzigou Police Station on the morning of July 26, 2012. She was held at the Chengde City Detention Center and later taken to the Hebei Women's Forced Labor Camp to serve a one-year term.

6. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Li Zhiquan Subjected to Brainwashing

Mr. Li Zhiquan, about 65, is a calligrapher and former art designer of Zhujiang Film Studio. He was arrested by officers from the Haizhu District 610 Office in March 2012 and taken to the Tangang Brainwashing Center. He was released a week later, after he failed to pass the physical exam. The Haizhu 610 Office still forces him to go to the Security Division of the Zhujiang Film Studio every week, where a specialist subjects him to brainwashing for 1.5 hours.

7. [Beijing] Ms. Liu Yishi Arrested

Ms. Liu Yishi, from Xushui County, Hebei Province, was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division on August 14, 2012.

8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Linkai Transferred to Dalian

Mr. Wang Linkai was being held at the Wafangdian Detention Center. However, when his family asked somebody to deliver clothes to him, the guards said that Mr. Wang had been transferred to Dalian on August 9, 2012.

9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Kai Arrested

Mr. Wang Kai was arrested on August 10, 2012.

10. [Chongqing] Mr. Wang Yuefa Sentenced to 2 Years of Forced Labor

Mr. Wang Yuefa, in his 50s, was arrested at home in June 2012. The police ransacked his home and confiscated a computer and other personal belongings. Mr. Wang was taken to the Baihelin Detention Center, but the detention center refused to admit him because of his high blood pressure. The police had to send Mr. Wang home.

Shapingba Police Department notified Mr. Wang to pick up his computer in early July 2012. Mr. Wang went there but never returned home. He was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor and taken to the Xishanping Forced Labor camp in Beibei District.

In 2001, Chongqing City Court sentenced Mr. Wang to 10 years in prison for producing informational materials about Falun Gong. Mr. Wang was released in 2008.

11. [Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xu Ying Arrested

Officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Hailin Police Department, including Ding Yuhua, Jin Haizhu, and Wang Wei, went to Ms. Xu Ying's home on the morning of August 14, 2012. The police ransacked Ms. Xu's home and confiscated two computers, a printer, and two cellphones. Ms. Xu was arrested.

12. [Luohe City, Henan Province] Ms. Guo Xiuzhen and 3 Other Practitioners Detained

Ms. Guo Xiuzhen and Ms. Li Suluan were arrested on the morning of June 27, 2012, by officers from the Yuanhui District Domestic Security Division for speaking to people about Falun Gong on Changjiang Road. Their homes were ransacked that afternoon.

Ms. Wan Hua and Ms. Wang Jinhua were arrested by officers from the High-Tech Zone Police Station around July 10, 2012.

Ms. Guo, Ms. Li, Ms. Wan, and Ms. Wang are being held at the Luohe Detention Center.

13. [Beijing] Ms. Yang Guiping Arrested

Ms. Yang Guiping is a nurse at the Jingmen City First People's Hospital in Hubei Province. Ms. Yang recently went to Beijing on a business trip. She checked into a hotel with her ID card and was subsequently arrested. She is still being held in Beijing.

14. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Shang Shuhua and Ms. Sun Enping Detained

Ms. Shang Shuhua and Ms. Sun Enping were arrested by officers from the Liusong Police Station on the afternoon of August 14, 2012, while speaking to people about Falun Gong. They were taken to the Sanhe Detention Center in the evening.

15. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Wang Youjiang Detained at Lanzhou Prison Hospital

Mr. Wang Youjiang has been detained at the Kangtai Hospital of the Lanzhou Prison.

16. [Linfen City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Qi Mingxi Detained After Finishing His Prison Term

Mr. Qi Mingxi was sentenced to 8 years in prison in August 2005 for clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. He was tortured in the Qi County Prison. His prison term expired on August 9, 2012. However, instead of being released, Mr. Qi was taken into custody by Wen Jinsheng and other officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Yaodu District Police Department and the Linfen 610 Office. He is being detained at the Haojia Hotel.

17. [Beijing] Mr. Li Yuejin Arrested; His Home Ransacked

Mr. Li Yuejin was arrested on August 5, 2012, by Haidian Police Department. His home was also ransacked.

18. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yan Jinhua Detained

Ms. Yan Jinhua was arrested on July 12, 2012. She was incarcerated in a detention center.

19. [Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan Province] Mr. Huang Chengyong Detained

Six police officers and Yaoba Village Party secretary Li Yong broke into Mr. Huang Chengyong's rental home at midnight on July 28, 2012, and ransacked it. Mr. Huang was arrested and is being held at the Baojing Detention Center. His son, a six-grader in elementary school, was left home alone.

Mr. Huang was previously sentenced to 3 years of forced labor in August 2006 for posting Falun Gong informational materials. He was released in August 2009.

20. [Yuanjiang City, Hunan Province] 610 Office Personnel Intimidate Families of Ms. Guo Xueying and Ms. Chen Youyun

Yuanjiang City 610 Office personnel intimidated Ms. Guo Xueying's husband into handing over a phone book that contained several Falun Gong practitioners' contact information. They also intimidated Ms. Chen Youyun's husband into revealing the source of Falun Gong informational materials.

21. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Baimalong Forced Labor Camp Refuses to Release Ms. Liu Chunqin

Ms. Liu Chunqin was due to be released from the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp on August 15, 2012. When her family went to the labor camp to pick her up, the guards said that she could only be picked up by the 610 Office personnel. Ms. Liu is still being detained.

22. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Shuying Detained

Ms. Li Shuying, from Xingjiatun, Xingshan Town, Shuangcheng, was arrested at home by 6 officers from the Xingshan Police Station at noon on August 13, 2012. The police ransacked her home and confiscated 2 computers, a printer, and other personal belongings. Ms. Li was taken to the Yaziquan Detention Center in Harbin that afternoon.

23. [Dazhu County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Xu Youliang and Two Other Practitioners Detained

Three practitioners from Duanjia Village were arrested in July and August 2012. Mr. Xu Daizhong and Ms. Shen Maoju were released from the detention center on August 15, 2012. Mr. Xu Youliang is still being held at the Dazhu County Detention Center.

24. [Gaocheng City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yang Rongxia and Ms. Wang Yuexia Detained

Ms. Yang Rongxi, from Yangma Village, was taken to the Zhengding Detention Center on August 7, 2012. Ms. Wang Yuexia was taken to the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center.

25. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Shulan Detained

Ms. Liu Shulan, a retired officer of the Zibo City Police Department, was arrested by officers from the Hengtai County Domestic Security Division on the morning of August 15, 2012. The police grabbed her keys and broke into her home. They confiscated a computer, a printer, and other personal belongings. Ms. Liu is being held at the Hengtai Detention Center.

Ms. Liu had been detained and brainwashed several times in the past for practicing Falun Gong. She was sentenced to 4 years in prison in 2011. She was later released on medical parole.

26. [Xiangshan County, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Jiang Ping and Two Other Practitioners Detained

More than 20 officers, led by Xiangshan County Political Security Brigade chief Lin Defeng and deputy chief Ma, forced their way into Mr. Jiang Ping's home on the evening of August 13, 2012, by breaking a window. The police confiscated about 8 cellphones, a laptop, printer, Falun Gong informational DVDs, and other personal belongings. Mr. Jiang had been sentenced to 9 years in prison around 2001; he returned home in 2008.

Ms. Zhang Jinhua was arrested at work. She is a guard at the Juexi Industrial District. Previously, she had been sentenced to 8 years in prison.

The police also arrested Mr. Chou Tainshu and confiscated his 2 computers and his wife's computer.

All 3 practitioners are being held at the Xiangshan County Detention Center. Family visits are not allowed.

27. [Fu'an City, Fujian Province] Ms. Zhang Lifang Arrested

More than 10 officers from the Fu'an City Domestic Security Division, including Zhang Weimin, broke into the home of Ms. Zhang Lifang, a retired employee of the Saiqi Town Credit Union, on the afternoon of August 8, 2012. The police arrested Ms. Zhang and confiscated 30,000 yuan in cash, jewelry worth tens of thousands of yuan, and other personal belongings.
