Partial List of September and October 2011 Persecution Cases in China

January 16, 2012 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from China

(Clearwisdom.net) In September and October 2011, Falun Gong practitioners were arrested both individually and in groups, detained, sent to forced labor camps, and sentenced to prison. The prisons, labor camps and brainwashing centers in China continue to torture practitioners who are steadfast in their belief. Many cases of severe torture were reported, including death from torture.

Large Scale Arrests of Falun Gong Practitioners

At 6 a.m., on September 5, 2011, officers from the Jin City Police Department in Hunan Province arrested more than thirty practitioners and ransacked their homes. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/9/24/128308.html) In the evening on that same day, the police in Qian'an City, Hebei Province arrested 14 practitioners. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/9/15/128112.html)

Over 100 agents from police departments at different levels, township governments, and village committees from Long County, Qinan County, Zhangjiachuan County, and Longshan Town in Tianshui City, arrested eight practitioners on the evening of September 19, 2011. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/11/128687.html)

The Baoding City 610 Office in Hebei Province passed down a quota for the arrest of Falun Dafa practitioners. 24 practitioners were arrested by September 25, 2011. They were detained, locked in brainwashing centers, and five people were sent to forced labor camps. (http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/7/128576.html)

Over a dozen practitioners from Xianghe County were arrested on the afternoon of October 22, 2011, including Ms. Li Xiuqin and her husband, Li Liandi. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/10/129361.html)

Practitioners were brutally mistreated while being arrested. On September 5, 2011, when 14 practitioners were arrested by the Qian'an City police, they pulled Ms. Wang Weiyue and Ms. Guo Yan by the hair into police vehicles. Their hair was pulled out in big clumps and Ms. Guo Yan's back was injured. On September 14, 2011, more than ten officers hid outside Ms. Zhang Aigong's home over night. They forcefully entered her home in the morning when her family opened the door. She was carried downstairs and taken to the Gulou Brainwashing center. Ms. Zhang is an engineer employed by the Nanjing 14th Research Institute. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/11/128687.html)

Mr. Sun Yi, 39, was planting rice in a water-field with his elderly parents when officers from the Fucheng District Police Department in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province came to arrest him. One officer even shot a gun to scare the innocent people present. (http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/12/2/129809.html)

Mr. Liu Zhigang, an excellent teacher, was employed by Linzhuang High School in Wuqiao County, Hebei Province. His wife, Gao Lihua, died as a result of persecution. Officers hid at the graveyard where his wife is buried on Qingming (Chinese Memorial Day) to arrest him. (http://www.minghui.org/mh/articles/2011/10/30/248517.html)

Persecution Aimed at Social Elite

Teachers, engineers, government employees, and businessmen are targets of the persecution. Ms. Liu Ronghua is an Associate Professor employed by the Dalian City Ocean Production Institute in Liaoning Province. The two-year forced labor camp sentence that she was serving ended on September 22, 2011. However, the police issued an arrest warrant on September 19, and she was held at the Yaojia Detention Center, to await trial. Her 16-year-old son, Zhang Tianyao, and her parents (both over 80 years old) have pleaded with kind hearted people to help save her. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/25/128981.html)

Mr. Zhou Xiangyang, was an engineer employed by the Tianjin City Geological Detection Institute. He was tortured by various methods, including ground shackles, electric baton shocks, etc. His wife, Li Shanshan, wrote an open letter to expose the cruel persecution he had endured. She also said that her husband had been in prison nine years, and the entire family had suffered. She called upon society to help bring justice to her family. On October 29, 2011, she was taken by the police to the Fengrun Brainwashing Center. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/11/129382.html)

During October 2011, many couples of social status were severely mistreated: Mr. Wang Ruejian, a Math Professor at Jilin University, and his wife, Song Chaoxia, both PhD's, were arrested. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/9/28/128386.html); Some people were sent to forced labor camps or brainwashing centers, including Ms. Liu Jinying, formerly of the Laishui County Appeals Bureau Director in Hebei Province (her husband Zhang Dongsheng is serving 15 years of imprisonment for practicing Falun Gong); Mr. Wang Shenghua, a Weifang City government official, and his wife, Dai Zongzhen, and their daughter; Mr. Yu Deyang, a 74-year-old China Science Academy researcher, and his wife, Cong Qiuzi; Mr. Zhang Quanliang, a computer engineer employed by the Chongqing Coal Mine Design Institute, and his wife, Liu Zhilan. (http://www.minghui.org/mh/articles/2011/10/22/248012.html)

Deliberate Violations of the Law

The CCP first accuses unjustly and then the accused go to trial. In the first half of 2011, the Zicheng District Court in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, put 74-year-old Ms. Bao Xiaomei, 72-year-old Jin Peizhen, and 67-year-old Zhang Wanfei on trial. Their “crime” was that they practice Falun Gong, and spread the truth about Falun Gong. However, absent are any laws or regulations stating that Falun Gong is illegal. Ms. Bao was sentenced to seven years in prison. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/9/26/128341.html)

Mr. Li Huosheng is an employee of the Wuhan City Fifth Bus Company. He was arrested and has been detained in the Wuchang District Detention Center since February 2011. On September 27, 2011, without notifying his family or employer, he was secretly sentenced to five years in prison. His wife went to the court to request a copy of the sentencing statement. The Wuchang District Court Judge, Zhang Wei, dared to say, “Why are you requesting the sentencing statement?” (http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/12/4/129843.html)

A similar incident happened in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Mr. Wu Zhanwei, who lives in the Huangdao District, was arrested on June 11, 2011. On October 10, 2011, his family received a phone call saying that he had been sentenced to four years in prison. His family never received any trial information, or a sentencing statement. (http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/23/129656.html)

The CCP court judges prohibit practitioners from hiring lawyers. They use unjust means to interfere with the work of the lawyers. Mr. Zuo Fusheng of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, was arrested on January 19, 2011. His trial was in February 2011. His lawyer submitted a request to the Fuzhou City Domestic Security, stating that the defendant's basic rights had been violated. At present there has been no response from the Procuratorate. In October 2011, Mr. Zuo's nearly 80-year-old mother and his lawyer were denied visitation. His lawyer was not allowed to read his files. (http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/24/129675.html).

Mr. Shang Xingde lives in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. His family hired a lawyer to defend him. The CCP court secretary, Wang Zhishuang, and Judge Yu Yong, erroneously told his family that Mr. Shang had requested to stop using his lawyer. They created many obstacles. One judge from Laoshan said to Mr. Shang, “Just because you hired a lawyer, we will sentence you to three years!” (http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/18/129544.html)

Torture of Practitioners in Prisons, Labor Camps and Brainwashing Centers

Mr. Sun Changjun was only 26 years old when he was first detained in Jilin Prison nine years ago. Mr. Sun has endured many methods of torture, including the Tiger Bench, electric shocks, fractured ribs, and more. Long periods of torture have taken a severe toll on his health. He suffers from tuberculosis, pleural cavities as a result of his late-term tuberculosis, tuberculous peritonitis, pleural effusion and ascites (accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity, causing abdominal swelling). Authorities have refused to allow his release on bail for medical attention even though he is in immediate need of medical help. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/24/128957.html)

Mr. Ao Yongjie is from Inner Mongolia. He started serving a jail term in August 2008 at Jilin Prison. He has been diagnosed with lung/lymph tuberculosis, and his right lung is severely deformed. His life is in danger, but local 610 Office Chair, Huang Zhiquan, has refused to process his release. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/2/129159.html)

Ms. Ma Chunli is from Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. She is crippled as result of torture she endured at the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labor Camp. She has been vomiting blood for a long time. When her family went to visit her on September 11, 2011, she was extremely thin and pale, and needed to use crutches when walking. One of her legs was severely atrophied and the other leg was beginning to atrophy. She experiences great pain when walking. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/21/128896.html)

Guards commonly use the incentive of reducing criminal inmates' prisons terms if they will engage in mistreatment of detained practitioners. For example, at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison, guards encouraged prisoner Meng Xianqiu, to beat practitioner Chen Yuerong. Meng is serving a 12-year term for committing a financial crime. Murderer Zhang Hongqi put a used tampon into a practitioner's mouth. This act was tolerated and encouraged by the guards. (http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/23/129661.html)

Torture re-enactment: Forced-feeding

Ms. Yu Qiuyan is from Harbin City. Guards and inmates at the Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison severely tortured Ms. Quiyan in attempts to make her give up her faith. Prisoners Yu Shufan, Wang Dongmei, Wang Yatong, Qu Xiaohua, Li Shumei inhumanly tortured Ms. Yu with the following methods: punching and kicking, bamboo needle poke, standing for a long time, tied to shackles, sleep deprivation, deprived of toilet use, forced-feeding, and forced drug injections. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/7/129268.html)

Torture re-enactment: Injection of unknown drugs

Ms. Liu Jinying, formerly the Laishui County Appeal Office Deputy Chair in Hebei Province, suffered five years of imprisonment, and endured torture and unknown drug injections. She was arrested again on October 7, 2011. She went on a hunger strike, including not drinking water, to object to the persecution. She has not signed any statements. Guards beat her until she passed out. In the early morning of October 10, 2011, she was forcefully injected in the right arm with some unknown drugs that caused her abdomen to become bloated by the evening. The doctors and nurses refused to tell her what drug she was injected with. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/3/129184.html)

Ms. Wang Mingrong

Ms. Wang Mingrong, 53, was a nursing manager employed by the Ankang Hospital in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. She was taken to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center on September 7, 201l. Within ten days she had been beaten and tortured to death. The 610 Office threatened her family and in every way tried to hide the cause of her death. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/10/128643.html)

Ms. Li Dongqing

Ms. Li Dongqing, 49, lived in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. She was first sentenced to three years of imprisonment in September 1999, at the notorious Masanjia Prison. Before she was released, she was sentenced to another five years, which she served at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. Later, she was locked in a mental hospital. Over a period of a year and 4 months, she was tortured with the following methods: locked in a small cell, brutal beating, and electric baton shocks. Her body was constantly covered with wounds, and she once suffered a nervous breakdown. Ms. Li's husband divorced her, and her young daughter was discriminated against, which caused her a great amount of mental stress. Forced to quit school, the daughter had to denounce Ms. Li as her mother in order to regain school admittance. Brainwashing caused Ms. Li insurmountable mental damage, and finally her death. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/2/129161.html)

Mr. Fan Zhenguo, 50, was the Tianshenghao Township Senior Citizen Housing Director in Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province. He was sentenced to nine years in Panjin Prison. He died in custody in Panjin Prison, on September 1, 2011. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/9/22/128265.html)

Ms. Yu Zhenjie

Ms. Yu Zhenjie, 54, lived in Zhalantun City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. She was twice sentenced to prison for a total of seven years. Ms. Wang Yujie, 24, was from Xiantao City, Hubei Province. She was arrested in Wuhan City on March 11, 2010, and secretly sentenced to a forced labor camp for one year. When her forced labor ended on March 11, 2011, she was directly taken to the Hubei Province brainwashing center by the Xiantao City 610 Office. She died on September 3, 2011 as the result of brutal mistreatment. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/9/15/128135.html)

Mr. Tong Dingqing, in his 50s, lived in Lianyuan City, Hunan Province. He was arrested and sent to the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City in 2005. During that period, he suffered numerous forms of torture, and was injected twice with unknown drugs. This caused his blood pressure to raise to 230 mm. The camp authority called his family and told them to come and get him. After he returned home, the local police constantly harassed and threatened him. He became paralyzed at the end of 2009, and he died in September 2011. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/10/28/129048.html)

People Forced to Fill-in “Promise Card” in Many Regions

In September, the Tengzhou City 610 Office in Shandong Province forced the delivery and signature of “Family Refuse Cult Promise Card.” This also occurred in Xingtai City, Hebei Province. Community administrations, village committees, and schools collected signatures from each family on such cards. Community administrations collected signatures door to door.

Internet Blockade

According to reliable sources, the CCP has increased its blockade of the Internet since September 2011. Starting in September 2011, the Internet police force of Jibeisanshi County, Dalian City increased to 4,600 members. The CCP is making great attempts to find practitioners who expose persecution facts online. For instance, the domestic security division, 610 Office, and the police from Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province, found an article online that reported how Ms. Liu Cuiyun had been brutally mistreated during the 12 years that Falun Gong has been persecuted. Officers climbed over the wall of Ms. Liu's home in Jinling Town, Zhaoyuan City, and she was arrested and detained in the Lingnan brainwashing center. She was locked in solitary confinement in an attempt to get her to tell the police who had exposed her case online. (See http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2011/11/10/129348.html)
