(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Liu Shanzhen was just released by Tumen City Police Department. Prior to being persecuted, Ms. Liu was an articulate speaker, but now she responds with laughs, just like someone suffering from dementia.

Ms. Liu's right arm and both legs have been disabled since she was very young. She also had other illnesses. Eventually she heard that Falun Gong had miraculous effects in curing illnesses and began to learn it. Soon afterward, her health significantly improved. Her headaches and back pain, as well as gynecological problems, disappeared, saving a great deal in medical expenses and benefiting her family.

On December 14, 2008, Domestic Security Division agents from the police department arrested her simply because of her faith in the principles of Falun Dafa, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. While Ms. Liu was held in the Anshan Detention Center, guards broke her already disabled legs and tore a tendon. Now her foot dangles from her leg, because the tendon was never repaired since she was injured three years ago. Police also confiscated Ms. Liu's personal belongings. In addition, they detained her husband and interrogated him. He could not keep clear headed under the mental stress and could not even take care of himself. The couple also has a daughter who needs money to go to school.

Under the direction of Lu Wenzhe and Wang Yuansheng, several guards took turns beating and torturing Ms. Liu. After they broke her bones, the guards did not immediately take her to the hospital but hid her for seven or eight days in order not to draw attention. When they took Ms. Liu to hospital later, the police lied, saying she broke her bones when she jumped out of a building trying to run away. In fact, the windows and doors of the interrogation room were tightly shut to prevent practitioners' screams from being heard when tortured. How could Ms. Liu, a disabled woman, escape?

Later, Lu Wenzhe and Quan Yongzhe carried Ms. Liu quietly out of the detention center, not to a hospital, but to Doctor Gao Zhuo's clinic. Doctor Gao is not a specialist and could do nothing but bandage her leg and foot with wooden supports. Her broken leg bone and tendon were exposed. It was too gruesome to look at.

Torture re-enactment: Brutal beating

The police did shameful things, threatening her family so that they would not appeal, and forcing them to pay the medical expenses. People saw Ms. Liu in prison and reported that she was emaciated and appeared mentally disordered.

At the beginning of July 2009, the Tumen City Court secretly put Ms. Liu Shanzhen on trial. The Court, under the control of the 610 Office, illegally sentenced Ms. Liu to four years in prison. However, Changchun Prison refused to take Ms. Liu because of her serious injuries. So the municipal 610 Office took her to Anshan Detention Center. Her family received the sentencing statement several days after the trial.

During Ms. Liu's detention, Quan Yongzhe and several other guards repeatedly arrested Ms. Liu's husband and daughter and took them to the Municipal Domestic Security office. They used intimidation, coercion, temptation, and other despicable means to force them to reveal names of practitioners who have had contact with Ms. Liu. Under tremendous pressure, Ms. Liu's family gave them a list of practitioners who were in touch with Ms. Liu. Consequently, Mr. Liu Chonghe, a practitioner, was tortured by the guards. Another practitioner, Ms. Meng Fanqin, was interrogated by Quan Yongzhe for four hours. She was brutally beaten and in such a bad shape that her family could not recognize her. Quan Yongzhe also used chopsticks to strike Ms. Meng's hands until they were bruised and swollen.

According to other sources Quan Yongzhe, Hong Mingeng, and several other guards used different methods to torture another practitioner, Mr. Jin Yongnan. (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2008/5/24/97598.html) They beat him in the torture chamber for six days and nights. During that time, Mr. Jin passed out many times. The guards took him to Anshan Detention Center when they noticed he was on the verge of death. They also fabricated false charges and sentenced him to many years in prison. Mr. Jin's health deteriorated as a result of the mistreatment and he eventually died.
