Wang Jianmei in Xinjiang Arrested, Her Husband Still Jailed

July 07, 2011 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from Xinjiang Autonomous Regions, China

(Clearwisdom.net) On June 24, 2011, police officers Wang Jiangrong, Yang Xinmin, and others from the Domestic Security Bureau of the Shuimogou District in Urumqi City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region, along with officers from the Liudaowan Police Station in Urumqi City, broke into the home of Ms. Wang Jianmei in Changqing's 4th group in the Shuimogou District and arrested her. Two other Falun Gong practitioners, who were visiting Ms. Wang at the time, were also arrested.

Ms. Wang's husband is Zou Kewen. In 1999, Mr. Zou was sentenced to forced labor because he refused to give up the practice of Falun Gong. He was detained in the notorious Wulabo Forced Labor Camp in Urumqi City and suffered hell-like tortures. Soon after he was released, he was sentenced again and detained in the Fifth Prison of Xinjiang. On May 6, 2009, he was sentenced yet again. He has been in the Fifth Prison ever since.

Twelve years ago, Ms. Wang and Mr. Zou's three children were all of school-age. After Mr. Zou was incarcerated, Ms. Wang had a very difficult time on her own with three kids. While keeping the family together and the three children in school, she was harassed and threatened by local officials.

The house that Ms. Wang lived in was several stories high and had been built by her family through years of hard work. In the early years, part of the building was rented out. After Mr. Zou was imprisoned, the family no longer had a reliable source of income, so they rented out rooms to support themselves and fund the children's education. Then the Suimogou District Domestic Security Bureau, the Liudaowan Police Station, the Nanhu Police Station, the local community, and the neighborhood committee all showed up at Ms. Wang's house. They searched every room in the building and took away all the Falun Dafa materials and books. They also confiscated valuable personal belongings and money from the home. Eventually these things got into someone's pockets and were never returned. In the end they expelled all the renters from the building and ordered them to take away all the furniture with them. They were not allowed to rent rooms in Wang Jianmei's house anymore. The family was suddenly in dire straits.
