College Student: Falun Gong Completely Changed My Life (Photo)

May 22, 2011 |   By Xia Yun, a Minghui Reporter from Taiwan

(Clearwisdom.net) In our Falun Dafa cultivation group, there are many young practitioners, and a lot of them are in college. We asked why so many young people are interested in learning Falun Gong. We interviewed several college students from three different colleges in the middle of Taiwan. Here is one of their stories:

'逢甲大学三年级学生李承融修炼法轮功后变化很大'

Third year college student Li Chengrong's life changed after practicing Falun Gong

There are numerous colleges in the middle of Taiwan, and there are Falun Gong practitioners among faculty and students in all of them. They also have Falun Gong exercise sites, and a Falun Dafa Association. Zhongxing, Donghai and Fengjia are the most renowned colleges in the middle of Taiwan, and there are numerous practitioners in these three colleges.

Li Chengrong described himself as being “emotional, selfish, and a time waster”. He says that he is different now thanks to the teachings of Falun Gong. He has changed for the better and is now “courteous, kind, mature and calm.”

Li Chengrong is a third year student at Fengjia College. When he surfed the web in 2008 he found a Falun Gong web site. He has always been interested in qigong, and his high school Chinese teacher practiced qigong. When his teacher talked about some qigong phenomena, he was amazed and wanted to learn more. Later on, he practiced some general qigong, but he did not feel it was very helpful. When he was a first year college student, he found Falun Gong and discovered that it was taught for free, so he began practicing.

When he had a reunion with his high school friends in 2011, they discovered that he changed a lot. Prior to Falun Gong, Li was a very emotional: he suffered from severe mood swings, was upset easily, and fought with others often. He never thought about others but just did things his way, and he was not friendly. He chose to escape from the pressure of college and his parents' expectations, so he would he skip school a lot. He also could not concentrate in class.

At that time, he also liked to break-dance on the street, enjoying the exciting music and bizarre movements. He was influenced by his peers and fought with his family members by disrespecting his parents. He did whatever he wanted, and his relationships were bad all around; there was no focus in his life, and he was wasting his time.

The Falun Gong teachings changed him enormously, and he now abides by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. When facing problems, he is able to look inward and search for what he did not do well, and correct himself first. Now he strives to be a good person, and to meet the standards of being a Falun Gong practitioner.

The changes that happened to Li Chengrong amazed his former classmates, and also brought much comfort and peace to his parents. Li became calm, kind, and courteous. His mother said to her friends: “After he practiced Falun Gong, he became a good person and has a happy demeanor all the time.” He takes the initiative in caring for his parents, and no longer quarrels with them. He also tries his best to meet their expectations of him, and he also looks inward to see why he does not want to do certain things, and where he needs to improve. Li also learned to communicate better with his parents and explain himself well, and his family no longer worries about him.

Li is no longer interested in street dancing. He no longer cares for that culture or the way they talk. He realized that such music was an expression of the fighting mentality; it is harmful to one's health, and makes it hard to calm down. With his education, he believes that he is improving. He knows that a student's responsibility is to study hard, and he will try his best to accomplish that.
