Villagers petition the police for the release of Mr. Xie

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Xie Chaoyan and his wife, Ms. Yan Congxi, live in Jiuzu, Cangtai Village, Wanyu Town, Huarong County, Hunan Province. He is well known in the village as honest, hardworking, and good. In their free time from farming, Chaoyan and Congxi go to the county and work, driving customers around on a motorcycle, and polishing shoes. Because of his warmhearted demeanor and honest and hardworking attitude, many people are happy to ride with him. But his popularity caused jealousy among his competitors, who reported him to the Wanyu police. They complained that he practiced Falun Gong and was encouraging his riders to withdraw from the Party. On September 21, 2011, Mr. Xie and his wife were arrested by political instructor Li Siqing from the Wanyu Police Station, along with Chen Dui, Liu Hao. and others from the local 610 Office, the Politics and Security Division, and the Domestic Security Division. Ms. Yan was released, but Mr. Xie is still being held at the Huarong County Detention Center.

After his arrest, Mr. Xie was taken to the Huarong County Detention Center. There, personnel from the county 610 Office, Politics and Security Division, State Security Bureau, and other related personnel, including the local police station, worked together to break into and ransack Mr. Xie's home. When they found Falun Gong materials, they forcibly arrested Ms. Yan and detained her at the local detention center as well. Hearing this news, Mr. Xie's family visited him at the detention center but were charged with “making a disturbance” by Zhang Hao from the Domestic Security Division. Ms. Yan was finally released around October 6, 2011.

Mr. Xie and his wife had over 20 acres of crops ready for harvest at the time, and time was of the essence. Their daughter's wedding was also set for October 15. There were many other important things waiting for Mr. Xie to do at home.

Fellow villagers had great sympathy for Mr. Xie and Ms. Yan's misfortune. They were well aware that, in the past, the couple used to bicker constantly and Ms. Yan did not have good relationship with her mother-in-law. However, after learning Falun Gong, not only did their health improve, they also became very upstanding. They stopped fighting at home and started working out their differences peacefully. They began to work diligently, and enjoyed a happy family life. Mr. Xie's mother was bedridden for over two years due to illness, and the couple catered to all of her daily needs, including food, drink, and incontinence, without a word of complaint until she passed away. If Mr. Xie and Ms. Yan had not practiced Falun Gong, it would have been impossible for them to do that.

Ms. Yan has recently collected many villager's signatures to petition for her husband's release. Some villagers even wrote below their signatures, “Mr. Xie is a very good person.” The signature collecting is still ongoing.
