(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Song Guilan, a Falun Gong practitioner from the countryside of Heilongjiang Province, has become crippled as a result of persecution. She was forced to become homeless to avoid harassment and threats from Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials. Her family was also harassed and threatened. The following is an account in her own words about the persecution she and her family have suffered during the last two years.

* * *

I live in a rural area, and I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. After I started practicing, my illnesses disappeared within just a few months and laughter returned to my home.

Detained and Tortured to Disability

When I was working in the fields in April 2008, four or five policemen showed up. Li Yong and Lu Changjiang from the Xinhua Police Department, as well as Wei Rongchun, a local security officer, were in the lead. They dragged me into a police car and took me to the Baoquanling Detention Center at Xinhua State Farm. Before they detained me, they ransacked my home and confiscated Falun Dafa books and truth-clarification materials. They forced my husband to sign the arrest papers without following any legal procedures.

While I was detained, they locked me to a metal gate and forced me to sit on the ice-cold cement floor for two days straight. They did not let me close my eyes, did not allow me to go to the toilet, and did not give me anything to eat. During an interrogation, they grabbed my hair and rammed my head into a wall. I was dizzy and my head was buzzing. There were big lumps on my head and I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I found that I was lying on the cold cement floor. I did not eat any food during the next 20 days.

They notified my family to come get me and take me to the hospital when they realized that I was near death. At the time, I had no feeling in my legs. I was paralyzed and unable to walk. I could not take care of myself.

However, the CCP officials did not leave me alone after I was released. Li Yong frequently came with a group of officers to my home to harass us. One time they used a spoon to scratch the soles of my feet and only left after they were satisfied that that I had no feeling in my feet whatsoever. I had become crippled and could not walk.

Forced into Homelessness to Avoid Persecution, My Family Harassed

I went to Shouwang Village in Jixiang Township with practitioners from Tangyuan County to distribute Falun Dafa materials on July 1, 2010. Someone reported us, and we were detained in Jixiang Police Station. The police grabbed the truth-clarification materials from us and threw them on the floor. Two practitioners tried to tell them that what we were doing was good, but the officers slapped the practitioners in the face to make them stop talking.

They later took us to the Tangyuan County Police Department. The police there asked for our names and addresses, and then they drew our blood and took our fingerprints. When we refused to cooperate, they beat us. After that, they handcuffed us together by twos and took about a dozen of us to the Tangyuan County Detention Center at 8:00 p.m.

When we got to the detention center, the officers tried to force us to wear prison uniforms. We did not cooperate with them, so they started punching and cursing at us. On the fourth day, one of the officers with the last name Song came with a pile of documents and ordered us to sign them. We did not cooperate with him. I went on a hunger strike for 18 days to protest the persecution. The detention center waited until I was in critical condition before informing my family to come pick me up. By the time I was carried out of the detention center, I was near death.

Even though I was in such bad shape, the CCP officials still harassed me on a regular basis. Because of this, I became homeless in order to avoid further persecution.
