(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Zhu Youquan is a practitioner from Nanhuzhongyuan, Chaoyang District, Beijing. On the morning of August 20, 2010, local police officers and officials from the residential committee broke into his home and arrested him. His mentally handicapped wife was taken to the police station and viciously beaten. The bruises on her body remained clearly visible two weeks after the beating.

Mr. Zhu started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. He persisted in telling others about the persecution after July 20, 1999, when the nationwide persecution started. On the morning of August 22, 2010, the local police called his son and told him, "If your father promises to quit practicing Falun Gong, we will release him tomorrow. If not, we will sentence him to prison." It was reported that Mr. Zhu has been taken to the Chaoyang Detention Center in Beijing.

Mr. Zhu suffers from a hunchback deformity as a result of a childhood illness. His wife does not know how to use a gas stove or how to cook. If she goes downstairs and walks out of the residential community, she can find her way back home, but she doesn't know how to cross the road. Mr. Zhu has to accompany her when going out. After Mr. Zhu's arrest, their son had to give up working to take care of her. Mr. Zhu's grandson is only two years old. His daughter-in-law does not have a job. After Mr. Zhu's arrest, no one in his family has had work or a source of income.

When Mr. Zhu's wife was taken to the police station on August 20, 2010, she returned home with injuries, including bruises that covered her legs. The bruises remained clearly visible 15 days after the beatings took place. The police brutality is outrageous given that she is over 50 years old and mentally handicapped.

Mr. Zhu's family went to the residential committee and the police station to state their family's situation, and demand his immediate, unconditional release.
