Former Party Official in Guangdong Province Given a Death Sentence

August 16, 2010 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from Guangdong Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Chen Shaoji was the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee in Guangdong Province. After Jiang Zemin and his followers started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, he headed up the 610 Office in Guangdong Province and actively instigated judicial officials and the public to hate Falun Gong. He ordered police officers to persecute and brainwash practitioners. His active and aggressive participation caused the persecution in Guangdong Province to be extremely severe.

It has been confirmed that 75 practitioners from Guangdong Province have died as a result of the persecution, ranking it eleventh in the whole country. Thousands upon thousands of practitioners from Guangdong Province have been forced to leave home or were subjected to illegal detentions. Many different kinds of institutions in Guangdong Province, such as prisons, forced labor camps, detention centers and brainwashing centers persecute and torture Falun Gong practitioners.

By directly heading up the 610 Office, Chen Shaoji assisted and participated in attacking practitioners. He therefore must bear responsibility for his involvement in crimes against Falun Gong in Guangdong Province, which include crimes against humanity and genocide.

In December 2006, Ms. Li Fuying and Ms. Xie Yan, who suffered persecution in China, filed a lawsuit of illegal imprisonment and torture against Chen Shaoji to the Supreme Court in New Brunswick, Australia, and successfully delivered the summons to Chen Shaoji, who was leading a Guangdong delegation to Sydney.

It was reported in the media that on June 26, 2010, the First Intermediate Court of Chongqing gave Chen Shaoji a death sentence with a two-year suspension. He was charged with bribery of 29,590 thousand yuan.
