Ms. Song Meiying Unlawfully Sentenced to Forced Labor

July 8, 2010 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent in Beijing, China

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Song Meiying was recently sentenced to two years of forced labor and is now being held at the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Song, 39, was a lawyer at the Zhongyin Law firm in Beijing. She lived at No. 5 Building, Jiulong Residential Area, Chaoyang District, Beijing.

Two years ago, Mr. Song taught English. She had a seven-year-old daughter who was both smart and beautiful. Her husband worked for an IT company. To support her husband she did all of the housework and she also took care of her aunt who was severely ill.

Ms. Song Meiying learned Falun Dafa in June 2001 when she was doing her post-graduate studies in Beijing. Thereafter she practiced Falun Dafa. The Falun Dafa principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance gave her new goals in life. She set the principles as her standard and tried to be a better person.

Family Constantly Harassed

Members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and police officers often went to Ms. Song's home to harass her relatives as a way of persecuting Ms. Song. Two years ago Ms. Song went to the neighborhood committee to go through the related formalities needed to work as a lawyer. As a result the neighborhood monitor sent people to Ms. Song's home to randomly check her computer.

The officers of the local police station, in collaboration with the those from the neighborhood committee, tricked Ms. Song's family into opening the door in February 2010 at a time when she wasn't at home. They looked around each room and asked a lot of questions.

These officers deceived Ms. Song's family into opening the door again in April using the ruse of collecting donations for victims of an earthquake. On entering the room they inquired about everyone in the family. They also asked about Ms. Song's aunt who was in the hospital at the time—but the family refused to answer. An officer picked up the family's land-line phone to call his own mobile without permission as a way of getting Ms. Song's home phone number.

Arrested and Sentenced to Forced Labor

Officers Xu Yong from the National Security Division of Chaoyang District, Beijing, Li Lianxi, Zhao Zhihua, and others from the Shuangjing Police Station, Beijing forced their way into Ms. Song Meiying's home, confiscated her books, and her MP3 and MP5 players before taking her to the Chaoyang Detention Center.

Recently, Ms. Song was sentenced to two years of forced labor and is now being held at the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp. Her family tried to visit her, but were not allowed to. They could not even enter the gate into the labor camp. They spent 5, 000 yuan to hire a lawyer, but the authorities only allowed the lawyer to meet Ms. Song once. Now, even the lawyer cannot visit Ms. Song.
